Chalet Apartment Grand Massif is set in one of the best locations in Samoens and is a flat 5 minute walk to the village centre. Set within a stand alone chalet our spacious 80 m2 duplex apartment is flooded with sunlight all day.

Downstairs there is an entrance hall with cupbard and plenty of space to hang coats leading to a double bedroom with a super king size bed, large wardrobe and internet radio; views of the mountains are superb. There is a separate WC and bathroom with full bath, shower, hairdryer, iron and washing machine.

Walking through to the kitchen area there is a large extendable table and a good range of high quality items including a full oven, large fridge/freezer and a new dishwasher. Wedgwood crockery, slow cooker, pressure cooker, fondue set and two raclette machines.

The living area benefits from its full width double height window with great views of the Nant D'ant waterfall and mountains. You can also enjoy the free Wi-Fi,a flat screen television and added luxuries such as a Bose ipod docking system. There are plenty of local books, maps, guide books and recipe books for your perusal.

Sliding glass doors open onto a n L-shaped east and south facing balcony overlooking the communal garden. Here you will find a BBQ and outside furniture ideal for dining and relaxing in the sun from morning coffee until it sets.

Upstairs there is a private mezzanine which can be used for a sleeping area for two, or additional living space, with a second flat screen TV, play station, DVDs and board games. A second double bedroom with a large wardrobe and a balcony looking out towards the Mont Criou. A smaller twin bedded room plus a second bathroom with bath, shower, WC and hairdryer.

Outside there is a communal garden and parking. A private garage with an electric door, a bench and plenty of space for changing into ski kit. A heated locker dries and warms boots and helmets.There are racks to store skis and a secure locking point for bikes etc. A bike is available to use.

In winter the Grand Massif Ski Area is accessed by the GME lift 5 minutes away by ski bus which stops directly in front of the chalet and runs every 15 minutes at peak times, alternatively its a level 10-12 minute walk. Ski de Fond follows the valley floor and river in front of the property.

A car is a nice added luxury but not essential.

In summer there is partial opening of the lift system. The mountains offer an enormous range of activities including walking, climbing, paragliding, white water rafting, canyon jumping, horse riding, via ferrata, golf, mountain and road biking. There is a swimming pool, lake and tennis courts and other activities at the Lac aux Dames. The Lac blue in Morillon has a life guard.

Within an hours drive you can discover Geneva and its lake, visit Annecy, Chamonix or Italy through the Mont Blanc Tunnel.

Discounts are available with local transfer companies and hire shops. Full or flexible catering can be arranged through our partner De La Terre.

About Hilary

We have been renting Chalet Apartment Grandmassif though an agency for 5 years but feel it is now appropriate to manage the holiday rentals ourselves.

This will hopefully allow more flexibility for both guests and family with the added benefit of a more personable interaction. We have in resort contacts for help if required during your stay and have negotiated discounts with local hire shops and transfer companies.

Why Hilary chose Samoens

For us Samoens seemed to offer so much more than other mountain villages and really does match up to those fantastic honest reviews.

We ideally wanted to holiday in a picturesque setting both summer and winter with facilities for all age groups from grandchildren to grandparents. We do like having the availability of many kilometres of skiing across an extended area and to visit other resorts. The Giffre valley offers this with the Grand Massif ski area accessed by the village cable car and the ski areas of the Porte du Soleil, Chamonix or through the Mont Blanc tunnel in Italy are easily reached for a days skiing.

Chalet Apartment Grand Massif is in an extremely enviable location within Samoens next to a reliable and frequent ski bus stop. The apartment was built in 2003 and still looks new, external and internal finishes are maintained to a high standard. It is very well equipped and has all the conveniences and comforts of home. The larger of seven apartments, within two similarly sized stand alone attractive chalets, it has its own external stairs and entrance. A private garage with a heated boot cupboard and storage for sports equipment. There is also a communal garden and parking.

The 80 m2 duplex design is very desirable and feels extremely spacious. A south facing double height windows in the living area has spectacular views of the mountains and of the Nant D'Ant waterfall. Sliding patio doors open onto a south east L- shaped balcony over looking the garden area with outside furniture and BBQ. The bedrooms and spacious bathrooms plus separate WC are arranged over the two floors. The mezzanine upstairs is a useful multipurpose space.

Even after 5 years of ownership and visiting many local properties we feel very proud that this is among the best designed, maintained and equipped 3-4 bedroomed apartments in Samoens.

What makes this apartment unique

Buying an apartment seems to be a lottery you think you have thought of all the points but then discover that you had missed a major asset.

Luckily we have discovered since buying our apartment additional benefits that we had not expected. We have found that in summer the sun rises and shines into the bedrooms, then the east facing windows catch the rays flooding the living area and kitchen with sunlight before settling on the main balcony where it stays until sunset.

The layout of the apartment is ideal for sharing the bedrooms being split over two floors each with a bathroom. The open plan kitchen- living room providing a both physical and sound barrier.

The second sitting area on the mezzanine has been great for children to play during a dinner party or for drying washing overnight out of direct sight.

Changing into ski kit is no longer a struggle with warm dry boots, helmets and gloves stored in the heated locker and plenty of space to store skis individually. The electric garage door enables a key free ski.

Access to Geneva airport with regular flights throughout the year is great for extended weekend breaks.

Deceptiously spacious in great location.

Had a fantastic summer holiday. Samoens provided us with endless activities after which we relaxed on the balcony soaking up the sun and great scenery (including a waterfall visible across the valley) watching the para-gliders soar over the village. There is a sunshade you can pull out over the balcony if required, typical of this apartment where everything is thought about. The apartment could not be better situated just outside the main centre but within easy strolling distance. There is a great pizza 'hut' (not the chain!) just around the corner and also a cheese producer very close by where we bought cheese for our raclette and fondue (they'll recommend mixtures and even grate it for you with a bit of notice). Apartment provides two very sizeable bathrooms, a large dining table indoors and outdoor dining facilities in the garden and on the balcony. We picked myrtille berries in the mountains and boiled them up into the best jam I've ever tasted. Trekked to a couple of mountain refuges for lunch, hard work but well worth the effort. The less able can take the gondola and cable car lifts that still operate through the summer months (watch the timings as they close late afternoon) to experience the spectacular mountain top scenery whilst listening to the gentle ringing of cow and goat bells. Such a great holiday!

This is a lovely apartment with great views of the mountains and a good place to see paragliders descending. The cable car is a short distance away and takes you to the top of the mountain where there's a good site for taking off. The flying is pleasant with a large landing field.

There are plenty of picturesque walks with spectacular waterfalls and far reaching views across the alps.

The apartment is very clean and comfortable set in a quiet location but a stones throw from all the amenities. We enjoyed buying produce from the local shops and markets and cooking in the very well equipped kitchen. We will definately visit again.

Perfect location for Summer holiday in the Alps

We are a family of 4 with with 2 teenage sons returned for a second year to this lovely chalet.
The accommodation is in excellent order, tastefully decorated, very comfortable, immaculately clean and providing the best ever kitchen amenities we have experienced when self- catering.
Location is perfect, providing privacy but within easy walking distance to Samoens centre with its lovely shops/ bars and markets- favourite boulangerie was Tiffany's!
The location caters for everybody's needs, my sons and husband are real down hill and road biking enthusiasts and so took advantage of the runs in Samoens together with extensive options close by in Les Gets, Morzine , Chatel and Lindaret.
Chair lifts also provide options for fantastic walking in the surrounding countryside together with easier river side walks.
Garage facilities were great for bikes and outdoor weather gear together with ample parking space.
We will be back to enjoy more BBQ suppers on the balcony with wonderful views- many thanks to our host Hilary.
It only remains for us to visit next time for a winter holiday as we noted the ski bus stops right outside the door!

Perfect stay all year round!

This is the second time that I have rented this chalet this year, and both times it has proved to be an impressive place to stay..

During winter it served as a great base for skiing in the Grand Massif resort with the regular ski bus service stopping right outside the front door making travel back and forth very easy and so much less frustrating than some other places I have experienced in the area. During this most recent stay in summer, it proved a great base not just for exploring Samoens village by foot but also within an hours reach of some of the best parts of the Haute-Savoie region by car. Transfers from Geneva airport take maximum one hour with many companies to choose from

Facilities were more than adequate inside and I was particularly impressed with the heated storage place in the garage for wet ski geat. The balconies offer great views of the surrounding Alpine mountains. The wifi signal was good with fast speeds all over the building.

In conclusion, i would thoroughly recommend this place to anyone looking for a winter ski holiday ( as late as the end of March with great snow!) or a summer alpine holiday with plenty of surrounding activities and walks

Samoens is a beautiful authentic village in the Haute Savoie, an ideal holiday location with a full range of both winter and summer activities for the whole family. The local tourist information office runs a wide range of entertainment and many an enjoyable evening can be spent in the centre listening to live music or watching a 'spectacle'. There are several interesting places to visit within 60-90 mins drive for an enjoyable day trip - Geneva, Geneva lake, Annecy, Chamonix or Italy through the Mont Blanc Tunnel for shopping or skiing.
