Beautiful surroundings are best appreciated from above. Ask anyone who’s ever glimpsed the dome of St Paul’s when perched on London’s famous Ferris wheel. But what goes up doesn’t have to come down right away. Not in Chiswick Green Studios. A penthouse pinnacle in glass, light and luxury, you won’t know which stunning view to gawp at first. Vast gleaming windows spread Chiswick’s charms beneath you, while high ceilings arch excitingly above. In between, find hip modern furniture, arresting artwork and swatches of colour popping in the daylight. It might be too much to take in, if you weren’t so very comfortably ensconced…

Your hosts live in Wiltshire much of the time, Chiswick Green Studios being their London pad. In love with all things theatre, they often visit the capital’s playhouses, and their daughter is a theatre director.

Top notch

Jump in the elevator and glide on up to your rooftop retreat. A warehouse turned penthouse paradise, this home boasts a unique layout. High vaulted ceilings make room for a cool mezzanine space overlooking one of two trendy bedrooms – and you’ve a breathlessly panoramic balcony. Start in the sitting room and squash into the L-shaped sofa. Surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows, watch as light skips off the artwork, white walls and ten-seater dining table. Up on the mezzanine, the modern kitchen lets you enjoy food with a (stunning) view.

Classic record sleeves adorn the second sitting room, and, should you need to work, you won’t mind doing so in the stylish study. Pad down to the master bedroom, where artwork and bright colours soften clean, white lines, and a walk-in wardrobe is vast and blue. The double bedroom is bright and elegant, and you’ve two gleamy bathrooms, fluffily hung with white towels.
