Overview

Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday apartment in Chelsea - West 20th Townhouse II

Home on the range

Out back

Stroll through Chelsea at high noon and you'll spot a host of colourful characters trotting between its upscale boutiques and modern galleries. But in West 20th Townhouse, life lilts at a much more laid-back pace. Here there’s a wonderfully eclectic mix of Victorian architecture and wild decorative touches – from the inflatable cactus and tepee in the bunk bedroom, to the bronze, brown and blue tiles of the kitchen. The long dining table is particularly rustic, its thick wood painted mint-green and set with ten mismatched chairs. Indeed, with the walls sunshine-hued, here you’ll feel thoroughly welcomed as you set up camp.

Trail blazers

Originally from England, your hosts made their way to Chelsea via Sydney, Australia. They were drawn to the neighbourhood's galleries, parks, and intriguing history, and love spending balmy evenings relaxing in their garden.

Back in the saddle

You'll know by the hot-pink rug and rainbow-hued pillows in the living room that this is a home of a different colour. A woven table runner brightens the dining room, while a collection of bright glass vases bloom on the mantle – just opposite a humorously potted, decorative wire cactus.

And while sophisticated crown mouldings and marble fireplaces surround modern art inside, out back there’s a grill and a relaxed, gingham-topped dining table. Be sure to tame the streets of Chelsea beyond your door – from its lively bars to its renowned bistros – then head home to wash off the day's dust in the gleaming marble bathroom.

About Owner / Property Manager

onefinestay gives you the chance to stay in someone's place while they're out of town. You get to live their life for a few days and nights.

Booking a stay is as easy as booking a hotel room. And there's service to match.

Nobody wants to be a tourist, so our homes come with recommendations from the people who live in them. For everything else, we're here 24/7.

Why Owner / Property Manager chose Chelsea

Galleries, the High Line, and an explosion of stunning residential real estate – take a step into Chelsea and one finds oneself in a whirlwind of creative change.

Once a sleepy neighbourhood of brownstones and tenements, warehouses and lofts, Chelsea has been reborn as a nexus of art and, increasingly, architecture. Frank Gehry’s colossal IAC headquarters building lights up the Hudson River at 18th Street, while its neighbor, a residential building by Jean Nouvel, is equally stunning. Early skyscraper Walker Tower, once home to telecoms giant Verizon, is about to become a residential building with some of the most sought-after terraces and views in the city.

Art has been a major driver of Chelsea’s latest chapter thanks to a few pioneers ousted from their Soho digs by landlords preferring retail rents. Chelsea is now swarming with visitors to some of the world’s leading galleries.

And where art and architecture flourish, inventive cuisine and good coffee are sure to follow. For an authentic local experience, stop by Café Grumpy on 20th Street, or enjoy a pizza from baking genius Jim Lahey at Co on Ninth Avenue at 24th Street.

What makes this apartment unique

Booking a stay is as easy as booking a hotel room, with online payment and confirmation. You get the same attention to detail and personal service too.

Every home is properly cleaned before and after you stay, beds made (we can even do hospital corners) and bathrooms kitted out with luxury toiletries. There’s a maid service if you want it, as well as other hotel-style amenities.

Once we’ve helped you settle in, we’re just a call away, 24/7. If it’s something we can’t solve over the phone, we’ll pop over to lend a hand.

And because nobody wants to be a tourist, our homes come with personal and unique recommendations from the people who live in them – places to eat, things to do and adventures to go on.
