Beautiful Provençal villa nestling in the mountains overlooking views of mountains and in the distance, the Bay of Cannes. Set in a conservation area the villa is surrounded by natural beauty and within five minutes walk of Michelin star graded hiking trails.
The villa is set over three floors with three double en suite bedrooms and one bunkbed room for children. Two of the bedrooms have balconies with wonderful views of the scenery and pool. One double room is a blind room (no window) but is bright and has an ensuite bathroom and toilet. A summer kitchen leads off of the indoor kitchen affording outdoor dining by the built in barbecue. A large sitting room with comfortable sofas makes relaxing easy. Satellite+ tv and Blueray DVD player as well as a music system, all provide entertainment when not sitting around the pool on one of the many sun terraces. There is off road parking for at least four cars.
The charming village of Les Adrets is five minutes walk from the villa. There you will find a great patisserie/bakery, supermarket, hairdresser, doctor, weekly market, honey shop, tourist office, Mairie/cinema, boules arena, pharmacy, pizzeria, delicatessen, three lovely restaurants and a bar with terrace overlooking the village. There is frequent entertainment in the village square such as paella night, puppet shows, travelling circus, live music and dancing.
A ten minute drive from the villa takes you to Lake St Cassien where watersports can be enjoyed and fishing. Fifteen minutes down a beautiful road takes you to St Raphael, Frejus or Mandelieu beaches, all are delightful. Cannes is only a 20 minute drive to the centre. Nice airport is 40 minutes.
I am English with a Belgian father. My husband is American and has lived in the UK for 15 years. He studied cooking at the Cordon Bleu school in Paris so when we have dinner parties I am at a slight advantage. He is now an investment banker but loves France and the cuisine, so we decided to buy a place near the Cote D'Azur where we could continue to enjoy everything French. Five years after buying the villa, our children, twin daughters arrived. They are now 10. We are very conscientious about renting the villa and do everything possible to make staying at the villa a happy experience. When I stay at the villa I look around and check if there is anything that I would not like if I were renting it for a holiday. If I see anything, I put it right straight away. It is so important to receive feedback and whenever we can assist either before or during your stay we are more than happy to do so. We have a French lady who speaks English, who takes care of guests when they arrive and during their stay. However, we are here at all times to assist. We take personal pride in the villa and hope you enjoy it as much as we do. The villa is spacious, clean, comfortable, well maintained and set in a stunning location with wonderful views. We could put in Persian rugs and designer sun loungers but then it would be classed as luxury and the price would go up. We prefer to keep it basic and user friendly and what you see is really what you get without any embellishments. We are discerning and we love the villa.
Jacqueline Heffernan purchased this villa in 2000
Location, location, location. When we decided to buy a holiday home in France we were first attracted to Nice. At the suggestion of friends who have a house near Les Adrets, we decided to take a look. We venture out of town and into the foothills above Cannes. As we drove, the noise and stress of the city left us. The air was fresh and cooling. Away from the crowds, with breath taking views, Les Adrets was a jewel in the crown. Set in the protected Massif Del Esterel, a national park of forests, rock formations and lakes, the village is unique. The sounds of nature are everywhere. As you drive towards the village and look towards the Bay of Cannes, the views are magical both day and night. The property has every practicality to suit the way of life in the South of France. Shutters on the doors and windows and stone floors keep the villa cool during the hot months. For sun worshippers, the sun terraces provide a place to relax. The private and secluded pool surrounded by beautiful flora and fauna, is a delight to cool off. In the evening you can put the lights on around the pool and enjoy a crisp glass of wine and a night swim. Sunrise and sunsets from the upper balcony are stunning, with the lights of Cannes glittering in the distance. Quiet and away from the village but only a five minute walk to the centre, it is a perfect spot to stay. Very convenient to all major attractions and away from the hustle and bustle when you need it.
The village has every convenience as well as retaining its French charm. The villa is beautiful, secluded and relaxing. The views are stunning.
If you want to be in a very comfortable villa with all the facilities one could need, and yet walk five minutes into the where you will find a bar, restaurants, supermarket, hairdresser, bakery, then this is the place for you. Another unique benefit is the friendliness of the local people that I have not experienced in such depth as in Les Adrets. Everyone says hello and young people step off of the pavement to allow older people to pass. The bakery have a fantastic selection of freshly baked bread and cakes each day that would not look out of place in Harvey Nichols. Again, the supermarket has a good selection of fine wines and the delicatessen prepares regional dishes daily that are delicious. Really, unless you want to explore and go to the beach etc, you have everything you need in the villa and the village to keep you happy for your holiday.
"We had a wonderful holiday at Villa Le Nest and would highly recommend it. The owner was extremely prompt and helpful in answering our enquiries when booking, and the lady in the village who helps look after the house very kind and friendly whilst we were there. The house is spacious and has all you might need, it felt homely rather than a holiday rental. The owners are keen for you to feel comfortable during your stay and make sure you have all you require.
There are many things we loved about the holiday, we will list a few! Great to be able to walk into the lovely friendly village for a coffee, meals and good little shops. Lots of interesting and varied things to do in the area - we enjoyed beautiful local walks, canoeing up the Gorge du Verdon, the local lake and the pedelos with slides! mooching round Cannes and a boat trip to the islands, as well as visiting the beaches. But we were also very happy to stay at the villa enjoying the fabulous views from the balconies and dipping into the pool with it's many accessories! All this suited the different ages within our party from teenagers to those in their 70's. It all worked really well for us all and we were very sad to leave"
We loved staying in Villa Le nest. Everything went perfectly. Jacqueline, the owner, responded very quickly and was friendly giving us lots of handy local information. The property manager, Janine, was also really pleasant and helpful. The villa is spacious and yet has a comfortable home-like feel. Even though we dared to holiday in February we managed breakfast and several lunches on the balcony bathed in glorious sunshine. There are loads of opportunities for scenic walks starting from the village and going over the spectacularly beautiful Esterel mountains. My husband loved the good roads for cycling and went for a 80K ride each morning down from les Adrets and along the coast, delighting at the soul-reviving views, the good weather and the number of fellow cyclists around. Of course the hard bit was cycling back up! His efforts were rewarded with wonderful croissants and more from the boulangerie. Out of season ( it was February) the village shops were closed Sunday afternoon and Monday. This was no issue as Janine had warned us about Sunday and on Monday we explored the immense geant casino only 15mins away in Mandelieu which has the most incredible expanse of delicate cakes and pastries I have ever seen. How do French people manage to stay slim? Maybe it's the amazing walks and the cycling!
We very much enjoyed our stay in this unusual holiday villa at Les Adrets, a charming small village with very friendly locals. There was everything we could possibly need for our stay, beautiful pool, spacious accommodation. We were welcomed Janine, even though we were much later than anticipated. We would definitely book this holiday villa again.
We had a brilliant holiday at Villa Le Nest, Jacqueline and Janine were extremely helpful and efficient. The villa's location was perfect and the people of Les Adrets charming. The restaurants in the village were ideal and the boulangerie provided our morning croissants without fail. The villa was a perfect size with plenty of sun and shade and the pool was fabulous. The views were gorgeous. Les Adrets is quiet but perfectly situated for the glamour of Cannes etc. It was also much appreciated that when we arrived provisions had been left which helped tide us over until we could get to the supermarket. All in all it was a great holiday in a brilliant location.
The house was very spacious, comfortable, clean and extremely well equipped. The various terraces were beautiful, and the many steps leading down to the lovely pool gave a great view over the valley and surrounding hills. We found the various services available in the lovely village of Les Adrets very useful and the many places to visit varied and interesting. We all found the owner and 'caretaker' of the house extremely accommodating. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday in Villa le Nest.
In respect of this wonderful holiday rental, clearly, all the previous comments that have gone before, have said it all.
Moreover, the fact that this particular Villa, has gained a 5 star rating, from all who have taken the time to write a review, says all that you need to know about this wonderful property and the surrounding area.
So I will keep it very simple and just say ...
There comes a time in every family's holidaying life, that you hope to find that one golden nugget of a holiday destination, that one perfect holiday experience and that one all providing holiday rental.
Well, take a deep breath, because when you stay at 'Villa le Nest', you will find all three!
The spaciousness of the villa together with its surounding tranquillity, beautiful views and excellent pool, make this a truly wonderful holiday retreat.
Add to this the magical ambience of Les Adrets, the Esterel and that special magic that can only be found on the Cote d' Azure and you know that you have found - a true 'hidden gem'.
Moreover, that's without even mentioning the warmth of the sun and Mediterrean sea, the food, the wine the the multitudinous markets and other places of art and interest that you can visit, as you seek to quench your thirst for that one special holiday memory that will last a lifetime.... I'll say more!
So I will finish this review by just saying ... you won't find many locations like this one. - It will deliver all that it promises and more !
So, book with every confidence and immerse yourselves in 'Villa le Nest' and the surrrounding area's bounty of suprises and riches... you won't be disappointed... : )
Les Adrets is a traditional French village full of atmosphere and charm. Only a short drive are the magnificent beaches of the Riviera, St Raphael, Cannes, Frejus, Agay are a few. Roman architecture including an amazing ampitheatre and aqueduct, can be found a short drive from the villa in Frejus and St Rapahel. There is a wonderful zoo nearby and also Aquasplash waterpark for the children. There are five star walking trails close to the villa which are very popular with walkers from all over Europe. The Verdon Gorge with its breathtakin views and climbing facilities is 45minutes by car. Lake St Cassien is five minutes away and is very popular for water sports including sailing, pedalo hire, rowing, wind surfing. Rowing boats can also be hired and picnics enjoyed either on the water or on the shore. The glitz and nightlife of Cannes are all within easy reach and there you will find not only world renowned restaurants but also wonderful boutiques and shops such as Gucci, Prada, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Hermes. St Tropez is an easy drive and there are beautiful beaches and restaurants. Why not enjoy a day at Club 55, a place to spot celebrities (http://www.destinationsperfected.com/2011/08/st-tropez-france-club-55-celebrity.html). In the villa we have a booklet with the many attractions that are available close by and the tourist office in the village has abundant information about attractions and forthcoming events in and around the area. The staff in the tourist office speak English, German and French. There are many wonderful restaurants near to the villa, 3 within walking distance - one has a beautiful terrace and another has panoramic views and is wonderful at sunset. We love Les Adrets, it is friendly and full of Provençale charm. Don't miss the boulangerie in the village as they bake absolutely delicious bread and pastries. In the morning I stroll to the bakery and pick up baguettes and pan au chocolate and stop at the café for a coffee in the early sunshine. It's wonderful. The hairdresser is very good and she has a manicurist who does an excellent manicure and pedicure all at reasonable prices. The pharmacy has a selection of high quality skincare such as Nuxe and Caudalie and also stock a large range of other cosmetics, orthopaedic footwear, medicines, suncreams etc. The Doctor, who is also the Mayor, is fantastic. My children, who are now 10, really enjoy the entertainment in the village square on weekends. It is a good environment for the whole family to enjoy dinner, dancing and listening to bands. There are also classical concerts in another square near the Eglise, 10 minutes further along the road. There you can enjoy listening to music from the terrace of a restaurant. For a day of action the children love Aquasplash in Frejus or simply playing on St Raphael beach and going on the wonderful old fashioned carousel afterwards. They tell me the ice cream in France is the best in the world. Fayence is about a 30 minute drive and has many cultural events and concerts in there modern theatre. There are also some great restaurants there including Le Temp de Cerises (booking usually required). For a whole day out I would recommend the train trip from Nice to Monaco which winds along the beautiful coastline. Similar stunning scenery can be seen if you take a drive along the Corniche D'or from Mandelieu to Agay. For those who enjoy the Movies, the Cannes film festival in May is a must see event. The villa is available as discounted rates during this time as it is low season so its a great opportunity to stay. It takes around 25 minutes into the centre of Cannes. We love walking along the Croisette in Cannes and taking in the views of the coast and the huge yachts. Much glamour and sophistication can be seen during a walk along this famous stretch of promenade.
