22nd Birthday getaway

  • 5 out of 5
Let me start by saying how fantastic Laura had been providing me with guidance through the entire payment process and answering every question that I had asked.
After arriving at malcesine the lovely Barbara had met us at the entrance of the building and helped us to our room with a comfortable lift that meant we did not have to drag our suitcases up the stairs.
She was really informative about all we would need to know regarding the flat and she even provided us with a Map and advice on what we could do during our stay!
The flat was the perfect size for a couple, the bed was comfortable, the kitchenette equipped with cooking and eating utensils.
There was also a table with chairs just by the window where we had enjoyed eating breakfast and dinner, the bathroom was very spacious and towels had also been provided.
The most amazing part of the flat was the balcony with an unreal view of the lake, castle and the town below!
This flat was excellent. Everything recently renovated, very very clean and the perfect size.
Everything is close by as it is situated in the best part of the town with the Eurospa right at you're feet with delicious cheese and meats. A bakery with mouthwatering pastries and our lovely little bar below who sold us bottles of the most delicious wine to enjoy on our balcony on a beautiful summers night.
The weather is very unpredictable and will rain or storm at any moment so be sure you are prepared!
Walk down to the lakeside at night just 2 mins from the flat and you will find a family of swans to feed with a spectacular view.
Monte baldo is just behind the flat as is the cable car service but if you're feeling up to the challenge walk via the strada panoramica all the way up!
We did this on my birthday and what an achievement it was!
We will TRUELY miss this place and couldn't be more happy with our flat which we called home!
I would 100% recommend this flat to any couple wishing to stay in malcesine.
It is all exactly as shown in the pictures and in absolute value for money!
Thank you Laura and Barbara for everything and we hope to see you soon!
A*****, 10/10!

Natalia, 22, London.

Amazing views and great location

  • 4 out of 5
Apartment was very clean, comfortable and in the perfect location. Being able to sit on the balcony and enjoy the lake and castle views whilst taking in the bustle below was amazing. We were met promptly by Barbera who gave us a hearty welcome. Only downside to the apartment would be there were limited applicances (no iron, dishes were sparse etc) but this did not mar our experience. Thanks to all who made it one to remember.

Malcesine is a small town on the eastern shore of Lake Garda in northern Italy. It's a picturesque tourist resort with cobbled streets and a castle, crammed between the blue lake waters and the massive mountain ridge behind, Monte Baldo. The town's ferry connections to other lakeside resorts make it a good base for sightseeing and the cable-car running up to Monte Baldo is a magnet for cyclists, walkers and paragliders.

Lake Garda is the largest lake in Italy, and Malcesine lies towards the narrow and mountainous northern end, often compared to a fiord. The town is situated at the edge of the Veneto region, in the province of Verona.

There are pretty little squares, cafes and restaurants, gelaterie and shops selling handbags, shoes, limoncello and clothes. The main harbour is small, attractive, filled with boats and lined with cafes. A short distance away is the old port, the Porto Vecchio, a quieter spot with good lake views, curious sculptures and more restaurants.

Malcesine's most striking feature as you approach over Lake Garda is its historic castle, the Castello Scaligero, which is also the town's main tourist attraction. The building takes its name from the della Scala family, who owned it and made alterations in the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries; the castle was being used, restored and adapted for military purposes up until the nineteenth century. Nowadays as well as being a tourist sight, the castle is also a famous wedding venue.

A cableway runs from Malcesine up to the high mountain ridge behind the town, Monte Baldo, climbing from 100m to 1760m. From the top the view is breathtaking, one can admire all the lake, the mountains that surrounded it and in clear days all the way to Venice. In winter this is a base for mountain sports such as skiing and snowboarding.
