Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday cottage in Isle of Bute & Cowal Peninsula - Lilybank Cottage

3 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom Charming Country Cottage With Terrace, Close To The Beach

This delightful 18th century croft cottage sits nestled off the main road with its own secluded location and no other properties in sight. It has been tastefully furnished and is well equipped to a high standard without losing its cosy country character.

Inside it is spacious and bright with the large conservatory leading off from the sitting room with views across the garden and the sea beyond. On the ground floor there is a double bedroom, twin bedroom and two bathrooms while an attractive bright and spacious attic, accessed via a steep spiral staircase, can be used to sleep older children who are keen on having their own space. There is an open log fire in the sitting room.

Outside, the garden decking looks out over the banking to the river which in Spring is covered in daffodils.

It is the perfect romantic retreat or base for an active family holiday. Well behaved pets welcome too.

For those seeking peace and solitude this is the perfect place to escape. Locally, the Cowal peninsula is one of Argyll's best kept secrets with lovely walks and stunning scenery. With no other properties in sight, the setting is beautiful - wonderful walks on the doorstep through fields, hills and lochside but yet a short drive to the coastal villages of Kames and Tighnabruaich where you can play the 9 hole golf course, explore the coastline - perfect for beach combing, walking, cycling, tennis, sailing, fishing, boat trips on the local vessel 'Morag' or board the famous paddle steamer The Waverley for an afternoon trip up Loch Fyne. Close by is the ferry at Portavadie to Tarbert, a small bustling fishing village on Loch Fyne. From here you can tour the Kintyre Peninsula. Or visit the Portavadie Marina for morning coffee whilst watching the yachts sail in and out the marina. The marina has a fantastic well stocked gift and clothing shop, beauty room and two restaurants. There is something for every member of the family whether you are a boat enthusiast or not.

This area is steeped in history with many castles, large houses and gardens open to the public. A scenic drive up the coast of Loch Fyne lies the ancient ruin of Old Castle Lachlan. Enjoy lunch at Inver Cottage restaurant whilst overlooking the bay or walk round the bay to the castle. Great adventure for children and pets too. Further up the coast is the pretty town of Inveraray. Inveraray Castle is home to the Duke and Duchess of Argyll and open throughout the Summer season for guided tours. Here you can stroll around the town, visit the Inveraray jail, maritime museum and bell tower. The famous Loch Fyne Oyster bar is only a few miles outside of Inveraray near the Loch Fyne Ale brewery and bar.

This is truly a delightful part of Scotland to explore and enjoy.
