‘Mar a Mantañas’ or ‘Sea to Mountains’ is our apartment, and home in Southern Spain. It was designed by architects, built to a high specification and furnished by an interior designer. It is on the first floor, has two bedrooms, two bathrooms and, because of a large double sofa bed, can sleep six. We are pleased with the apartment and hope that you will enjoy your stay.
Because our apartment is in the hills above San Pedro and Estepona, looking one way, there are stunning views of the bay of Marbella and the mountains behind, and looking a different way, Gibraltar and North Africa. The apartment is 15mins from Marbella, with its traditional old town and famous Orange Square and a few minutes from Puerto Banus, with its marina, surrounded by bars, restaurants and shops. About 10mins drive in one direction is the traditional Spanish town of San Pedro, with shopping, promenade and beaches. About the same time in a different direction is the world renowned Spanish village of Benahavis set on the hillside just above us, with nearly 50 restaurants to choose from, a gastronomic delight. Spain is world famous for its sherry, olives and wine. The areas where some of the best are grown and distilled, are less than 2 hours away. Investigate and sample. The historic town of Rhonda is less than 50 kilometres away, or pop over to Gibraltar for some shopping and superb views from the summit. It will take about 45mins, but don’t forget your passport. Portugal is also not very far away or take a day trip to Tangiers by ferry. There are wildlife parks too within easy reach, and the mountain ski area of Sierra Nevada is only 2 hours away.
All this, without mentioning golf and as Southern Spain is known for its golf it’s worth saying that there are so many quality courses within a short distance it is difficult to pick only one out. And it’s not just golf. There are opportunities for tennis, water activities, off-road adventures, cycling and walking, to name a few. The choice is yours and your choice maybe to do very little, just sit around one of the pools and enjoy the views. They are breathtaking.
The apartment consists of large lounge and dining room, leading onto two large terraces, so having the benefit of watching the sunrise from one terrace and the sunset from the other. Access to the terraces can be from the kitchen, lounge or Master bedroom. The terraces have outside furniture, including dining table and six chairs, and a barbecue on each. The lounge area has a large flat screen tv with DVD/CD player. There is also a separate hi-fi system and a small number of DVDs and CDs to choose from. In the bookcase there is a selection of books for use by guests. The kitchen is fully fitted, including crockery, cutlery, cooking utensils and glasses, together with laundry facilities. All seating and dining facilities are equipped for six people.
Outside the apartment, there are four swimming pools including an infinity pool, plus children’s pools, all set in the tropical gardens, which included streams, a small lake and a fountain, all surrounded by plants and trees. It is a gated and secure development, and the apartment has its own private garage in the basement.
