This wonderfully refurbished Victorian shooting lodge is set in its own grounds with excellent westerly views over the river Oykel. Part of an 18,000 acre estate, this area epitomises the rugged isolated beauty of the Highlands, providing excellent touring and sightseeing opportunities.

The granite clad lodge has been fully refurbished and has retained its original Victorian character with its timeless style and elegant grandeur. Accessed via its own drive in grounds protected by deer fencing, there is a large gravel parking area to the rear of the house. Within there is a large elegant drawing room with open fire, ideal for a more formal gathering. The impressive dining room can dine 10 people easily, along with the breakfast room next door, which is serviced by the well equipped kitchen. A snooker room with three quarter size billiard table is available for those of a sporting nature. On the lower ground level, there is a secondary sitting room with TV, which is more informal, and perfect for relaxing in after a day out on the river or on the road. All the bedrooms are on the first floor, with one master double bedroom en-suite, three double rooms and one twin room, with two bathrooms and a shower room. Each bedroom is aesthetically pleasing with wonderful pictures and furnishings, along with a TV in each room. The grounds around the house are a mix of lawn and mixed woodland, but as the house is on a raised plateau, it enjoys wonderful views to the front overlooking the river. Game shooting, game viewing and fishing can be arranged with the local estate with advance notice. This is a wonderful lodge to spend some quality time on a break and enjoy the natural beauty of the area, in a luxurious setting.

WHAT TO DO IN THE AREA

The capital of the Highlands, Inverness provides a bustling hub and perfect day trip to catch up with civilisation, culture and shopping, before getting back to exploring the remote surrounding areas. Wherever you roam, you'll find outstanding natural beauty with Loch Ness, Ben More Assynt and Ben Wyvis being highlights. Other attractions include the Culloden Visitor Centre, Urquhart Castle at Drumnadrochit and Dornoch Cathedral. This is an excellent area to tour the Northern Highlands, with trips to Ullapool, Dornoch and maybe as far as John O’Groats. For golfers there are some very good golf courses, with Royal Dornoch and Skibo Castle courses being superb. For those who want to fish or shoot, then contacting the estate for further information to get advance bookings can be arranged.

Use of a car is essential to discover the true beauty of the surrounding areas.

For those flying into Scotland, the closest airport to this property is Inverness (Dalcross), which is 57 miles away. To hire a car or 4WD could not be more convenient if you are choosing to travel by air as there are a variety of well known car rental companies situated at the terminal.

If you are driving into Scotland from the south, the major arterial motorway into Scotland is the A74/M74, which although busy is generally free flowing. This in turn leads onto the M73 and then the M80, north of Glasgow, which leads to Stirling and then from there it is the M9 and then the A9, which leads up to Inverness and beyond. An average journey from north of the Glasgow bypass to this property is likely to take approximately 4 hours and 30 minutes.

The closest railway station with car hire facilities available on site (or within short taxi/walking distance) would be Inverness, which is approximately 50 miles from the property. Trains from London terminals to Inverness take approximately eight hours and there is also an excellent overnight sleeper service. The nearest local railway station is Lairg, which is 8 miles away.
