Photos and Description of this 8 bedroom holiday home in Huntly - Riverside Country House
Sleeps: 10+3, 8 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms
This delightfully elegant country house, built in 1936, has a wonderful old-fashioned feel, whilst having been refurbished in a stylish manner. On arrival, the long tree-lined drive, takes you down to the house, where the grounds and the river Deveron beyond can then be seen. This secluded site was well chosen as it overlooks a bend in the river and takes in the rolling countryside. There is fishing that can be taken on the one mile of river, which is for both banks, and can be for up to four rods, which is by separate arrangement.
Inside, at ground level, there is large elegant drawing room, where you can retire after a day of fishing, with open fire and large bay windows that overlook the well manicured lawn, or there is a smaller study, which might be better for reflection to consider the one that got away. The dining room and the kitchen have both been upgraded and refurbished. In the hallway, there is an impressive main stair to take you to accommodation level on the floor above. Here there is one master double room with en-suite bathroom, one double room, three twin rooms, three single rooms, with four bathrooms. On the floor above is a simple games room with table tennis table.
WHAT TO DO IN THE AREA
When entering Aberdeenshire, the sign states “From mountain to sea” and that sums up nicely what this glorious region has to offer. Aberdeenshire is dominated by hills, with Bennachie, a local favourite to the west, whilst to the east there are miles of unspoilt coastline, including beaches at Sandend and Sunnyside. Excellent harbour villages include Portsoy, Crovie and the “local Hero” renowned Pennan. For a more cultural and cosmopolitan experience, then the vibrant city of Aberdeen, with a range of excellent shopping and first class restaurants is an hour away. Mountain to sea, country to city, this area provides something for everyone.
