Beckys Place - highly recommended!!!

  • 5 out of 5
Dear Michelle and husband,
thank you for let us stay in your wonderful house.
As a family with two boys aged 10 and 14 years we had a wonderful time at Beckys place. All was as we had expected after having read the description of the place. It is clean and well maintained and provided with an excellent service. We climbed up Magho Cliff, drove to Slieve league and walked up to the cliff, we went to the beach in Mullagmore, had a wonderful lunch at Eithnas in the sunshine and visited the Silgo Fleadh Cheoil/one weeks lasting Irish folk competition, which was absolutely inspiring. We also visited the most splendid Marble Arch Caves, Belleek pottery of course and tried to find Castle Caldwell, which we only found after walking pass it twice. If you ever happen to look out for it, you will probably know, what we mean.
The few times it rained or when it was a bit chilly we lit the turf fire, which was quite an event for all of us. It was very cosy and comfortable. The area around Beckys Place is very interesting and we find very Irish. The people are absolutely friendly. We haven't seen everything and not cought enough fish yet. So we have to come back. Thank you again, it was a brilliant holiday.

A Magical Place in Auld Ireland

  • 5 out of 5
My wife and I spent six days in this magical location towards the end of last summer. We find the memories as vivid now as they were when we left.

There are some lovely photos of the house and surrounds online but lovely as these are, they simply can't do Becky's Place justice. I swear we sensed the presence of fairies as we picnicked on the lawn before going on a gentle boat ride on the stretch of water lapping at the bottom of the garden.

We drove off each day in the certain knowledge that we would end up somewhere even more beautiful than the day before. It's difficult to overstate the enchanting beauty of this part of Ireland or the warmth and hospitality of the people, their sense of fun and yearning for laughter, not to mention their humour and capacity for merry-making. Truly, something to be experienced to be believed. We loved it.

We can thoroughly recommend this comfortable and comforting house, be it for a short reviving break or longer, battery-recharging holiday.

Becky's Place in beautiful Belleek, in enchanting Ireland. My wife and I can't wait to go back.

All the comforts of home

  • 4 out of 5
In June 2013, we enjoyed a wonderful week exploring this beautiful part of Fermanagh and Donegal from the comfort of Becky's Place. We arrived on a golden sunny evening - the long, light evenings are a bonus at this time of year. We were delighted to find the cottage light, airy and tastefully decorated and furnished. It was extremely clean and welcoming and felt like a well-loved home.
There is plenty of safe parking space adjacent to the house, once you negotiate the narrow entrance off the main road.
Becky's Place has a small but extremely well-equipped kitchen with a beautiful view down the meadow to the river and beyond to Belleek. This view can be enjoyed from the dining- room and conservatory. The bathroom with bath and integral shower was fine, but it was as well that the owners had warned us beforehand that the hot water is very hot!
In the lounge, there is a multi-channel TV and a large and interestingly varied stockpile of CDs, DVDs, books and games for entertainment or relaxation.
Becky's Place is well-situated, with the fascinating Belleek Pottery, incidentally an excellent place for reasonably priced lunches of good quality, and The Black Cat Cove 'singing' pub, a welcoming place to spend an evening, both just a short walk/stagger away.
The stunning coastline of Donegal is within half an hour's drive and we walked the miles of level sandy beaches at Rossnowlagh and Murvagh as well as following the cliff path at Bundoran where we saw the most beautiful sunset. Forest Drive is a slightly longer journey but worth it for the fantastic views. Mullaghmore is a charming harbour and beach and for those of a more adventurous nature, there are the menacing cliffs of Slieve League, which wouldn't be out of place in Mordor, to explore.
There are several attractive National Trust Properties of historic interest, well worth a visit, only a short drive away and both Donegal and Sligo are also worth a visit for their special character and range of good restaurants.
At the end of each full day of exploration, we were glad to return to Becky's Place, our home from home. We look forward to our next visit and have no hesitation in recommending it to friends and family.
