Overview

Photos and Description of this holiday apartment in Mousehole - Island Watch

Balcony overlooking Mousehole Island, 1 bedroom, parking

Nestled on romantic Poldark's coastline, Island Watch is a small but beautiful, purpose-built apartment set on two levels with stunning views of Mount's Bay and St Clement's Island and a private balcony. The apartment makes a romantic, convenient and comfortable base from which to enjoy South West Cornwall: in December for the magic of a traditional old English Village Christmas, in the Spring for the walking and the flowers, in Summer for the beaches or, for one of our famous Indian Summers right into November. And every day when you rise or come home, you have the spectacular sea views to drink in from your lounge or the private balcony. It's a great spot for a honeymoon or special anniversary.

(NB if you would like to come to the same location with another couple or a couple more guests, please note that we also let out the main house Seal Point Villa: 1055858. It may be possible to offer a discount for parties of three or four.)

So, for Island Watch, made just for two, climb the simple wooden steps to your own entrance leading onto the first floor. Here you'll find the lounge with kitchenette and French doors to the sheltered balcony. Flanked by palm trees you can sip fresh coffee from the Nespresso machine and watch the wildlife in the sea and on the Island. The balcony is sheltered and quite a suntrap. The small wc and shower are also on this level.

Upstairs to the bedroom under the eaves. Here there's a very comfortable kingsized bed with good mattress (we renew regularly) and good quality cotton linen. There's also a small sofa, a selection of books (English, French and German) and storage space for your clothes. From the skylight you can see the Island again and if you leave it open, fall asleep listening to the sound of the water lapping on the shore some 50 metres away.

Parking right in front of the apartment gives you peace of mind in coming and going - so much of Mousehole has no reliable parking to offer. The flat is equipped with: TV, DVD player, Ipod dock and radio, Wifi, microwave/small oven, two plate induction hob, fridge with freezer compartment, Nespresso coffee machine, tea, coffee.

We live next door to the apartment and are happy to welcome you and leave you to yourselves or be on hand for any questions you may have or tips you need during your stay. If we are on holiday ourselves, my mother lives nearby and is on hand for any needs you have.

The house is neighboured by the gardens of the Old Coastguard Hotel, a boutique hotel with 13 rooms and a very fine restaurant. This is a quiet establishment and a lovely place to dine - but do book. If you google its website, you can also gain a greater sense of the position.

About Marina Wright

We are a husband and wife team. We love sharing the best of the West with guests.

Please do let us know if you'd like to chat on the 'phone to ask questions either about the apartment or the area. We have sadly stopped posting our phone number on the website due to nuisance calls but we love to talk to prospective guests and can arrange this via email for a quick call back.

Why Marina Wright chose Mousehole

We just love to watch the sea and its creatures feathered and finned. For this you need to be close and 50 metres is just about perfect! We also love to watch the sailing and fishing boats passing by or on occasion the drama of the lifeboat as it races past to an emergency.

The pleasantest experience ever

  • 5 of 5

The flat was absolutely gorgeous. Not just that it was beautifully kept and the view from the windows towards the sea was amazing, it was also lovingly equipped to meet guests: all that you could think or want was there. From a hot water bottle to guidebooks, binoculars, lovely crockery to two shelves of books - I could have spent weeks just reading them! The teddy in the bedroom was such a good company:) I divided my time between working (writing) and walking out on the Coastal path, and Island Watch was eminently suited for both. Situated right by the bus stop, it was easy to come to, and only a few minutes walk from the waterfront and the harbour. My heartfelt thanks and a very warm recommendation!

Urlaub, wie man ihn sich erträumt!

  • 5 of 5

Was soll man noch sagen: beim Abschied kullerten jedenfalls einige Tränchen.... ?

Gerne kehren wir sehr bald in dieses Idyll zurück!!!

Rest and relaxation

  • 5 of 5

Arrived in dull damp weather to be met with a lovely welcoming apartment. Fresh red roses in each room, milk, coffee and a fruit loaf for our arrival, lovely personal touches. Views from the apartment stunning. Mousehole is still as lovely as I remember when I stayed there as a child. You cannot help but fall in love with this place. All you can do is chill, relax and enjoy. Thanks Rob and Esme for making us feel so at home and for making us aware of the pod of dolphins in the bay. If you want to slow down the pace this is the place to go. Lots of places to visit if that's what you want or places to relax, loved the local pub The Ship, always a cheery welcome. Do try the pear rattler, its lovely. Thanks again, hope to return soon.

Owner's Response: So glad you enjoyed your stay and that the dolphins visited you - that's an honour! It was a pleasure to have you to stay. Rob and Esme

Lovely getaway in March

  • 5 of 5

We were really pleased we had chosen Mousehole and island watch. The apartment has everything you need , and more. There were fresh flowers homemade fruit bread coffee tea sugar etc towels, umbrella, loo roll, local paper, guides, books , heater and lots of thoughtful touches.

I choose this as we don't smoke and Phil is allergic to dogs also the previous reviewer said it was clean , it was. So I felt I could relax. If it is a totally romantic holiday you want be aware it is linked to the family home so you can hear them sometimes, so it may not be exactly the right place for romance.

The place was great we ate out a lot at The Old Coastguard, 2 Fore Street and all meals were good. The Ship Inn is a good pub too. When we did eat in we went to Hole Foods Deli which was lovely and does great hot choc. We visited the Eden project about an hour away, St Ives and local walks as well as seeing the seals at the bottom of where your view is , they were so close to the shore.

It was wet and windy but on the up side it wasn't to busy the apartment is cosy and has a great view. It was a great break and excellent value, even out season there is plenty on offer.

Top tips

Take off your watch

Turn off your phone

Eat out or deli in

You are never too old to rock pool

Bed in your walking boots

Eat seafood

Be glad the wifi is patchy it means you are not tempted to work

Sunday papers & red wine in The Old coastguard.

Owner's Response: So glad you enjoyed it so much. We've passed on your cafe/resto praise to the owners - it's such a boost for them to hear. Very sorry wifi was patchy for you - we've just two weeks ago had BT Infinity installed (finally it reached Mousehole!) and recent guests report it's working perfectly. It's unusual to hear anything from the main house as we have two soundproof doors so I'm wondering if one was left open our side by mistake - we'll watch out for that. Thank you again for your kind comments and tips for future guests.

The Perfect Hideaway!!

  • 5 of 5

Just had to say Thank You to Rob, Esme, Pax and Kes for a wonderful break in Island Watch! The weather slowly improved as the week went on but your lovely apartment made up for it.This was our first holiday this year and will be our last before we get married in May so was extra special - The highlight was when Pax and Kes sang Happy Birthday to Jennie and brought up your homemade cake and a birthday candle...truly scrummy and heartwarming! We are both back at work now in bustling London and missing the soothing sounds of the sea and the amazing warmth of the people of Mousehole!! Will definitley recommend your Perfect Hideaway-Love Jennie and Matthew xXx
