Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday apartment in Kotor - Boka View

2 bedroom apartment in an ideal location, just footsteps from the sea

This comfortable, well-situated two bedroom apartment retains many of its historical features such as the exposed interior stone walls and shuttered windows set into thick stone walls. The thick stone walls create a naturally cool ambience that is ideal to relax in after day in the sun. The open plan lounge/kitchen-diner is furnished with a comfortable sofa and arm chairs and a fully equipped kitchen that is perfect for serving up light meals.

The two bedrooms - one double and one twin – lead off from the lounge area. Both have exposed, interior, stone walls and wood panel floors – the double has a front facing window that enjoys views across the Bay. The rooms are serviced by a modern shower room that rounds out the apartment’s comforts.

The shared jetty, with its bay views over to the Vrmac Ridge, is directly across from the property and provides an ideal spot for sunbathing and swimming or simply watching the world go by in one of the most delightful waterfront villages on the bay.

About Michael

Having lived in Montenegro for five years now I know the coast quite well and absolutely love the relaxed lifestyle here. My favourite properties are right on the waterfront because I love swimming in the sea in the hot summer months.

Michael purchased this apartment in 2012

Why Michael chose Kotor

It has a lovely interior with some exposed brick on the walls and a good location.

What makes this apartment unique

It has stunning views and a lovely waterfront location in Perast which is pedestrianised in the summer.

Situated a few kilometres northwest of Kotor, Perast is one of Montenegro’s most picturesque settlements, with pretty winding lanes and countless churches set against a backdrop of rugged cliffs and the forests of Mount Orjen. Grand merchant houses lie along its seafront, an echo of the time when Perast was a prosperous Venetian-era trading town on the western edge of the Ottoman Empire.

An ideal base for exploring the Bay of Kotor and beyond, Perast has been perfectly preserved and boasts some of the finest examples of baroque architecture on the Adriatic Coast. Palaces, churches and old stone mansions line the water’s edge, and the stone promenade is a charming place to while away a few hours in the sunshine, with the enticing aromas of almond cake – a traditional Perast sweet scenting the air.

The town looks out onto the Verige strait – the narrowest part of the Bay of Kotor – and distinctive twin islands, each with a picturesque chapel. The Abbey of St George was first established by the Benedictines as early as the 9th century on a natural island, while the neighbouring Our Lady of the Rock adorns a manmade islet built and enlarged over centuries by depositing stones and scuttled sailing ships around a small crag. The first known church was built there in 1452, and the present Byzantine chapel went up in 1632, with the domed sanctuary added ninety years later.

Quiet and beautiful, Perast is one of the highlights of this stunning region, and a delightful base from which to visit quaint fishing villages alongside the deep blue waters of Kotor Bay and other historic towns nestling among the trees of the surrounding hills.

Notes:
Set on the waterfront of Perast, whose seafront consists of a long line of grand merchant houses, this beautifully restored old-stone villa is superbly placed. Where better to experience the true atmosphere of UNESCO World Heritage Perast – with its tall-spired churches, medieval watchtowers and Baroque palaces – it is one of the most delightful waterfront villages on the Bay of Kotor. Located just minutes away from Perast´s main square, it makes the ideal base, whether for simply taking in the historic atmosphere or for exploring the whole unique Kotor Bay area. Sunny days can be spent relaxing on the old stone shared jetty, watching the world go by or perhaps catching some rays at one of the small nearby beaches.
