Overview

Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday home in Whitstable - Harbourside Cottage

3 bedroom, 1 bathroom in quiet street near town centre

Harbourside Cottage is a fully restored, 3 bedroom, self-catering property, ideally located in the heart of the Whitstable's Conservation Area. It is full of original features including decorative victorian fireplace in the lounge and in each bedroom. It's only 5 minutes walk to the beach, harbour and high-street with it's boutique-style shopping and lively restaurants and pubs.

The cottage is immaculately presented and finished to the owners high standards. It combines to provide extreme comfort and a real 'home-from-home' living experience. Locally themed artworks are on display around the house. The combined kitchen and dining area, at the rear of the property, is our favourite as the main living area and has the benefit of good natural light all day and access directly onto the garden.

As well as enjoying the local beach and outside space, you can enjoy our beautiful and secluded 'beach-style' garden. It is complete with patio (outdoor furniture provided) and BBQ, where you can enjoy the sunshine from breakfast until late afternoon, when you come off the beach (beach chairs are also provided).

There is a light, spacious family-sized bathroom complete with toilet, bath and powerful shower, 3 beautiful double bedrooms all with comfy beds and furnished in a contemporary style.

About Peter Bell

I live in Orpington, Kent and have 2 children aged 14 & 16. I run my own print management business from home. I also enjoy property renovation, having improved my own home and recently completed a complete renovation project in Whitstable, an area I enjoy visiting immensely.

Peter Bell purchased this house in 2010

Why Peter Bell chose Whitstable

I chose this property as it has great charm and is full of Victorian features. It had obvious potential as a development project and holiday home, and is very well located for all of Whitstable's attractions. The harbour and beaches are just round the corner!

What makes this house unique

Harbourside is a charming and cosy cottage, a perfect hideaway retreat with great pubs and restaurants nearby. Whitstable is a great arts and crafts centre by the sea, with galleries and boutique shops giving the town a thriving creative feel.

Super holiday had by all

  • 5 out of 5
I highly recommend this cottage and Whitstable itself for a smashing holiday. We were a group of 5, 2 grown ups (most of the time!) and 3 teenagers. My youngest has autism and loved having his own space in the smallest bedroom, the 2nd bedroom possibly a bit tight for space if you're fussy, but my other 2 were more than happy and the master bedroom, lovely. A very clean, comfy, bright and airy holiday home. There were things like dishwasher tablets and washing liquid there, so that was great not to have to think about that when packing. If I was being picky, I think the only two things that would have made it more comfortable would have been a fan in the rooms (we were extremely lucky with the weather, it was HOT!) and maybe a couple of sunbeds for the garden. I am being picky, just would've packed a couple of deckchairs if we'd have known. This is no way a criticism, we were blessed with the weather and the lovely pebbly garden was a bit too lumpy to lay on! We had no trouble parking. Did have to drive around a bit after we'd unloaded to find a space when we arrived, but as soon as one became available close to the cottage, we nabbed it and didn't need the car again as everything is literally within 2 minutes walk. Whitstable is beautiful and we spent every day puggling around, GORGEOUS sunsets, fab places to eat and tho shingle, the beach is super to while away the hours. Super!

Owner's Response: Many thanks for your kind and well-balanced review. I appreciate your feedback concerning the bedding and the fans, especially as it has been so hot in recent weeks.

I do hope you will come back again and we will make a special effort to accommodate your requirements next time around.

Car: not necessary

We are located minutes from the beach and town centre. You will find opportunities to try out water sports with local operators including kite surfing, windsurfing, sea kayaking and fishing. There is even a water-ski club where you can soak up the atmosphere. They have great spot behind the beach where you can have a drink and some lunch, whilst enjoying the amazing sea views from the balcony.

There is also a cycle hire centre at the end of our road so you can enjoy the varied cycle routes along the coastal path or cycle inland towards Canterbury, taking you through beautiful woodland scenery.

Whitstable prides itself on the varied boutique-style shopping and there are many outlets up and down the high street. Harbourside Street is especially quaint with it's famous fish & chip shop and restaurants including my favourite, the Saltmarsh restaurant in the Cumberland Hotel.
