Luxury holiday home, big secluded garden, for wine lovers in Puligny Montrachet - The Main House & grounds to yourselves

Bedrooms 3
Property type house
Minimum Stay 4 nights

Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday home in Puligny Montrachet - 10 Puligny Montrachet (10 pm)

An intimate experience for wine lovers, real village life with an inside track..

A very spacious but cosy, recently refurbished, old vigneron's house (sleeps either up to six or up to 10 - see below) in the very heart of wine making country, in Puligny Montrachet, near Beaune, Burgundy.

The house is very traditional, but the plumbing, the kitchen amenities and the size and comfort of the beds are not!

The whole property consists of two units which were originally a family house and its granny annex, separated by a very thick Burgundian stone wall, so well insulated from each other (and the cold/heat).

From Spring to Autumn (inclusive) the Main House (three double en suite bedrooms) can be rented on its own in the knowledge that you will have exclusive use of the house, the gardens and the patio/terrace areas. We will not let the Little House to anyone else if you are staying in the Main House.

If you are a larger party, there is also the potential to rent its equally spacious, completely self contained, 'Little House' (sleeps four additional guests in two double bedrooms with one shared bathroom, see the separate tab).

Both were completely renovated in 2011/12 to offer luxury accommodation, combining original features with modern facilities, including some very atypical plumbing (ie powerful 'Raindance' showers)!!

We like to be comfortable, with lots of space, large beds, luxury bedding and mattresses, a kitchen made for entertaining and the rest of it. This is our holiday home, so it includes all of the features that we love.

Our architect is obsessed with getting the greatest amount of natural light into a home as she can possibly manage, and she has managed this particularly well! This adds to the feeling of light and space in both properties.

See the details of the accommodation below and the photos of our lovely holiday home in Burgundy. Please note that photos of the Little House are towards the bottom of the photo gallery.

As an extra treat, we have connections with wine makers, and experts in the area who may be able to offer you, at a modest cost and as convenient for you, a completely bespoke experiences and consultations on your voyage of discovery...

They can help you to organise visits to special wineries, private wine tastings in the house accompanied by the finest local food, inside information on the best restaurants to suit all budgets, fun wine education sessions etc.

But this is your choice. You will be equally happy if you want to run under your own steam.

The main house, which we completely refurbished 2012 and update every year comprises:

Three spacious double bedrooms with deeply comfortable mattresses and modern décor, each with a luxury en suite shower room. Each bedroom is individually designed to reflect a season of the year in Burgundy.

A separate family bathroom, overlooking the vines, with a cast iron roll top bath and stone and marble tiling.

A large open plan, bright living room with a fully fitted American-style modern kitchen. We have designed this space with conviviality in mind so that you can cook and interact with friends at the same time or share a wine tasting at the central island. Extra little luxuries include the wine fridge and the Krups espresso coffee maker.

The dining table in the Main House seats 10 so that, even if you are using both houses, you will dine together.

There is a very large private terrace just outside the front door with a large table and chairs where you can relax and have an outdoor meal, a quiet aperitif in the evening or simply watch the village life go by.

The garden is large, verdant, peaceful and totally private. It provides both sun and shady spots as you wish. Two large bistro-style garden tables and 10 chairs, eight comfortable recliners, a large 'bistro' sun shade and outdoor lighting are there for guests' use.

To the rear of our house is our small vineyard - the 'vininch' as we like to call it. It boasts the only red grapes in the village (those of you who are into your wine will know the reason for that!!).

There are laundry and ironing facilities, a secure storage space for your wine, and off street parking.

We have WiFi broadband and sound system and NO television! Get to know each other again instead... Or use your wireless devices to pick your own web based entertainment.

The central heating keeps it warm in winter and the very thick walls keep it cool in the summer and quiet all year round.

The Little House - completed in late 2012 and refreshed every year...

The Little House (which is not so little!) is available to rent as an addition to the main house from spring to autumn. It may be available separately in winter when the gardens will not be in use, depending on circumstances. It comprises:

Two modern and spacious double bedrooms with deeply comfortable mattresses and unique décor. The rooms in this house reflect French-speaking countries, Mali, Senegal, Tunisia...

A fully up to date bathroom with a spacious and powerful 'Raindance' walk-in shower.

A large and airy through living/dining room with views over both our vineyard at the back, and the front terrace.

A separate fully fitted modern kitchen also with views over our vineyard.

What makes 10pm one of the best places to stay in the Beaune area? Comfort, conviviality and location!

What makes Puligny Montrachet one of the best places to stay in Burgundy? Wine-village life, good amenities, not choc full of tourists, some of the very best wine makers in the world, access to so many other places!

We have designed and created 10pm for ourselves, our family and our friends. We want to attract guests who will feel completely at home and appreciate the care we have put into making their stay as excellent as possible.

About Peter Noble

We are a couple of travellers who pootle about between London, Catalunya and Burgundy with plans to take in a 'Grand Tour' of Europe over the next few years.

We used to run our own (very serious) business until we escaped in summer 2012. Now we want to have fun, learn as much as we can and just be ourselves.

We love France and wanted a home where we can see, hear, touch, smell and taste superb wine being made.

We have designed and created 10pm for ourselves, our friends and family and like-minded guests.

We love, food, wine, history, learning stuff, comfy seats, comfy beds, power showers, great art, great music, thoughtful literature, creating our own cuisine, entertaining, having fun and having peace and quiet in a shady garden.

We want our guests to be able to experience the magical things we love with a little more than the basic touristic experience.

For us it is the small things that make a holiday magic - having a pheasant or red squirrel visit the garden, seeing the grapes being taken to Olivier Leflaive's winery to begin the wine making process, strolling down to the bread shop in the morning to get warm croissants, walking up the road to pay homage to the great Montrachet grapes (perhaps taking a bottle and some fresh cheese with us), popping literally next door to taste Jean Chartron's complex, beautifully balanced wines... this is life!

Then, when we are feeling more energetic, we will hop into the car (or a taxi) and travel a few kilometers to experience more history, geology and Burgundian life in the many surrounding villages and small towns.

If, like us, you want to be in the centre of things but not surrounded by a heaving, noisy, smelly circus, then this is the place for you.

Stay with us and we can help you to make your holiday that little bit extra special!

Peter Noble purchased this house in 2007

Why Peter Noble chose Puligny Montrachet

Comfort, conviviality, convenience...

By now you know that we like our creature comforts, so we created 10pm with luxury in mind. You can arrive, sit down and relax. Shopping can wait...

The showers and beds are big enough even for really tall people (so our US guests tell us!). The kitchen is designed for people who love to entertain. It is peaceful but in the centre of the most famous white wine village in the world and within a stone's throw of all the action - perfect!

Then, when you decide to stir outside...

If you want to experience a unique immersion in the culinary and vinicultural treasures that Burgundy has to offer, this is the place for you.

Burgundy is the home of some of the best wines in the world, red and white. Just think of the names - Montrachet, Vosne Romanee, Chambolle Musigny, Pommard. It is like a roll call of fine wines. At 10pm we are so lucky to have the three sisters of classic white wines, Puligny, Chassagne and Meursault on our very doorstep.

By merely walking down the road you will be able to visit the actual vineyards with all the history and geographical specificity they convey, and visit some of the finest winemakers in the world. Wine tastings will allow you to see the range and quality of the wines, and have fun too.

Wonderful local restaurants offer the best there is to eat, whether you want fine dining or simpler fare. Charolais beef, burgundy snails, fabulous local cheeses, home made charcuterie - wow! Explore the food shops and street markets to find glorious seasonal produce for a picnic or to eat at home, indoors or al fresco.

Cycling and walks in the vineyards are great fun too and there are specific routes promoted according to duration and difficulty.

This experience is for people who want to see village life, sitting in the bistro or fine-wine bar next to the very people who make the wine, and also want the ability to spend active days without always having to get into a car.

What makes this house unique

Our house combines great comfort, modernity in the right places, friendliness and conviviality with a great location which means you are not far from anything.

10pm is only a couple of hundred metres from the very centre of Puligny Montrachet, which is steeped in history.

Our neighbours are some of the best known winemakers in the world and you can visit many of them (on foot!) to taste their creations.

And, without even having to get into your car, you can easily reach the boulangerie, the local epicerie (grocery), the fine-wine bar (caveau), four restaurants (including two Michelin starred restaurants), and Olivier Leflaive's famous wine tasting lunch.

Beaune is just 12 kilometers away and there are many more wonderful sights, tastes and experiences even nearer, such as the three Michelin starred Lameloise just a short car ride away.

Walk or cycle through the vineyards to get close to the grapes growing in those famous named plots of land.

Or use the services or our wine contacts for a bespoke programme (big or small) that will allow you to get to know special things that might otherwise pass you by.

Of course you can stay at home and take advantage of the grounds - a large lawn and our very own 'vin inch' at the back of the house.

Guests of 10pm also have exclusive access to the guest-only pages of our website which gives you little insights into the area, the cuisine and other little bits of magic.

We want our guests to have the most memorable of times and have done everything we can to help them achieve just that!

Fantastic house, superb location, lovely people

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from a most fantastic and relaxing week at 10PM and cannot recommend it highly enough to anyone wishing to visit Burgundy. The house is amazing and although it has the capacity to sleep 10 people, it was still very homely and cosy for just the two of us. It has a wonderful terrace and garden and is located a stone’s throw (literally) from the centre of the charming Puligny Montrachet village and its surrounding vineyards.

From the moment we made our initial enquiry about the property, both Peter and Lucy were fantastic to deal with. They were extremely friendly and welcoming and made sure we had all the information and advice required to get our break off to a flying start. They also took the time to check that we had settled in nicely and that we didn’t have any problems.

They also introduced us to their acquaintance Pascal Wagner who is extremely knowledgeable about the Region and its vineyards and facilitated a sublime day of exploring and wine tasting for us. We would certainly recommend meeting up with Pascal early in your trip as his knowledge and contacts will save you both time and money, whether you are interested in procuring the best wines or merely sampling the local fare and learning a little about the history of the various vineyards and villages.

In summary, fantastic place, lovely people and we cannot recommend it highly enough! Nor can we wait to return ourselves!

Owner's Response: Dear John and Natasha, What can we say? Thank you so much for your lovely review and for describing your experiences so vividly! We love to welcome fellow wine lovers to our home in Puligny and want you to love it as much as we do. Holiday memories are precious for all sorts of reasons so we strive to make sure you have really great ones. We think Puligny Montrachet is a jewel of Burgundy because it is so real (not heavily touristic) and, of course, because of the wine makers who live and work there. Pascal is also a jewel with an enthusiasm which carries everyone with him! We really look forward to welcoming you back to 10pm soon. With warm regards, Peter and Lucy

Beautiful setting, Excellent location

Clean property with Monia doing a great job. 3 well sized double rooms, all ensuite (with showers that work properly). Comfortable beds and sofas. Kitchen is fully loaded and enclosed garden and terrace were great for afternoon sun (and wine) and letting the kids play. Bakery 5 mins walk, Olivier Le Flaive 5 mins walk, Le Montrachet hotel/restaurant also 5 mins. I went running up to Chevailier & Batard Montrachet twice at 9 am which was priceless. Wifi worked well but no need for TV as we just played Jenga! We will look to comeback…and have already told friends. Monthalie near Mersault is worth a visit during caves ouvertes.

Owner's Response: Dear Alex and family, Thank you so much for your delightful review! Running between the vineyards sounds like pure heaven and you have hit on many of the things that we too love about 10pm. We look forward to welcoming you back soon and joining our growing list of return visitors. A bientot! Monia, Peter and Lucy

Simply perfect

What a beautiful and comfortable home. Clean, quiet, safe, traditional with all the modern conveniences. Everything we needed was there, the kids were happy, we were happy. The owners were gracious hosts although in another country. We wouldn't have enjoyed our stay as much without Pascal, and I hope you have the chance to share some time with him, too. Tops all around.

Burgundian Gem

  • 5 of 5

Our group of five found this house to be ideally suited for any traveler to the Burgundy area. The hosts, Peter and Lucy, could not be more accommodating to our needs. To assist first-timers, there's a comprehensive guide to all the facility.

The appurtenances are all state-of-the-art including three bedrooms with en suite bathrooms, a modern and spacious kitchen, a generous dining and living area, an upstairs patio and a lower grassy area with lawn furniture and a BBQ. We were able to tour the countryside and return for cocktails and dinner every night. The town of Puligny-Montrachet is delightfully small but boasts a one-star Michelin restaurant and a number of very good smaller restaurants if cooking at home is not your desire.

Because we are also wine-lovers, we were aided in our wine travels by the friendly Pascal Wagner who can be hired as a guide for very flexible hours.

We would not hesitate to recommend 10 PM to anyone nor would we hesitate to rent it again. All in all, one of the most delightful houses we've ever stayed at on our journeys.

Owner's Response: Dear all, Thank you very much indeed for your lovely review of 10pm. We don't think we could have said it better or more succinctly ourselves! You were great guests - thank you for the photos which we enjoyed very much. We look forward to welcoming you back to 10pm in the future - there is something different happening all year round... With warm regards, Peter and Lucy

Puligny Montrachet Gem

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from our visit to France and have to say our week at 10pm was just lovely. The villa is comfortable and every piece of it is updated and modern. Our bedroom view was out over a little vineyard. We could just walk to the small village of Puligny Montrachet for morning pastries or to the local wine bar and then dinner across the street. The location is just perfect. Peter was attentive to all of our questions and needs and checked in with us to make sure all was ok during our visit. Peter also put us in touch with Pascal Wagner and we met up with him at the start of our week. I would highly recommend a visit with him. What a lovely time and such fun experiencing this little gem.

Owner's Response: Dear Jamie, Thank you so much for your review! We are so pleased you had such a good time, enjoying both 10pm and Puligny Montrachet itself. We too love being in the midst of such an authentic wine making village. Many thanks for being such fab guests. Peter and Lucy

Wow - A Perfect Rental Home in Burgundy

  • 5 of 5

Our family was so happy to stay at 10pm. The owners, Peter and Lucy, are considerate and thoughtful hosts. The house is very clean with a state of the art kitchen next to a large living room. The bathrooms are new and luxurious, the bedrooms are very prettily furnished, and the new king size beds provide a very comfortable night's sleep, complete with high-end linens.

We followed the owner's recommendation and had Pascal Wagner provide us with a personal sommelier tour at the beginning of our week. This made our trip so enjoyable - we enjoyed private tastings, learned about Burgundy wines from an expert, and walked through the village's world class vineyards with Pascal.

Our week here has flown by! Peter and Lucy, thank you for sharing your home!

Owner's Response: Dear Carol and family, Many thanks for your very kind (and extremely quick!) review. We may sound like a broken record, but we designed and decorated 10pm for ourselves - comfort, conviviality and cooking! And we want our guests to enjoy the same experience - to have things as we would want them. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay and hope you have many happy memories to take home with you. With best regards, and many thanks again, Peter and Lucy

Good connections from central Paris. Also driveable from Paris, Lyon, Dijon and Geneva.

If you are serious wine lovers, interested learners or families/groups who want to do great things together but with enough space to chill out, 10pm in Puligny Montrachet is an ideal location.

Spring, Summer, Autumn, even Winter (with some insider knowledge) in Burgundy is an absolute delight with lots of things to do, see and experience.

Puligny Montrachet is in the heart of the Burgundy wine region and is famed for producing the finest white wines in the world. In fact, 10pm is next door to one of the best makers of Puligny Montrachet and other wines - Domaine Chartron.

It is not an overly touristic village, so it is not noisy and hectic. But it is a working village, full of winemakers and so quite lively at times, with great local amenities.

As an optional extra, through our connections in the local wine business, you can have one or two experiences that are unique - visits to undiscovered winemakers, wine tastings at home (in our convivial open plan living room/kitchen) or in the vineyards, knowledge of local restaurants, wine makers and food producers that are currently 'on form' etc.

We are blessed to have two Michelin starred restaurants within walking distance of the house, Le Montrachet in our village and Ed Em in Chassagne Montrachet, a 30 minute stroll away through the vineyards. And the village Caveau de Puligny Montrachet offers informal wine tastings of the finest selected local wines on their terrace.

Before we forget, and speaking of high class restaurants, Chagny, which is about three kilometers away, boasts one of the most famous restaurants in the world - the three starred Lameloise.

However, we must not forget that we are in France and the budget restaurants are very very fine too!

But our house is also a good centre for walking and cycling in the vineyards and around. An easy walk or ride away is Meursault, with its fabulous coloured roof tiled town hall.

Beaune is only 12 km away with its famous colourful Saturday market, the Hospices de Beaune, its beautiful architecture and its quaint, mainly pedestrianised, centre and some really interesting shopping.

Slightly further afield and well worth visiting are Chalon sur Saone (a lovely provincial town with a really good Sunday food market in the streets around the cathedral), Nolay (a small town with an historic centre and a medieval market building that must be seen), Santenay (a 'ville fleurie' with a lovely town square with a fabulous fountain, a casino and an outdoor swimming pool open in the summer months), the Cistercian Abbey of Citeaux. And of course you are just a short distance from some of the other famous names in Burgundy wine - Nuits Saint Georges, Pommard, Chambolle Musigny, Clos de Vougeot, Vosne Romanee, Meursault, Chassagne Montrachet etc, which each have their own character and of course their own vignerons, many of which offer tastings.

We are still exploring the surrounding areas and constantly finding new and interesting things to see and do.

Also unique to 10pm is our website with guest-only areas which give you exclusive insights and tips which will make your stay that bit more special. What cheese to try? Which is the best charcuterie? Where is it? What is it best for? What's on in Burgundy at the moment?

All of these things make 10pm and Puligny Montrachet one of the best places to stay in Burgundy.
