Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday villa in Maleme - Villa Bamboo
2 Bedrooms 2 Bathroom with sea views *Wheelchair Accessible*
This new villa sits amongst olive trees on the outer limits of Pirgos, a little hamlet 15 mins walk from the calm village of Maleme. Combining an uncluttered and modern interior with an external finish embellished by touches borrowed from the ancient Minoan era, the resultant cocktail of decorative themes creates a totally unique style. Dark clay colours rub shoulders with pale creams and pastel shades both inside and out, where they contrast strikingly with the light blue water of the pool.
Cream varnished wood floors, laid throughout the Villa reflect the light and create an uncluttered style in the spacious living area, while the rich brown of the leather sofa and dining chairs introduces a contrast of colour. The starring feature though is by courtesy of Mother Nature herself with gorgeous sea views through the practically floor to ceiling windows, over the olive trees and neighbouring roof tops.
Partially hidden behind a dividing wall, the well equipped kitchen has a clear run of white cupboards and work tops with a fridge freezer, full sized cooker, washing machine and a small dishwasher concealed within. A breakfast bar with seating for four overlooks the pool and patio area through a large picture window.
A small internal hallway with a full length mirror and floor to ceiling storage leads to the bedrooms, each of which has its own spacious shower/wet room with contemporary fittings.
The master bedroom is furnished with a king size bed and colour washed in an intimate shade of red wine, lifted by the subtle use of bamboo in the headboards and door screen. There is a pine wardrobe and dressing table and, more lovely sea views through large windows.
On the opposite side of the hallway is the very spacious twin bedroom with a dressing table and ample wardrobe space. Windows face the cool green of the olive groves.
There is a extra folding bed in the living area for a 5th person/child.
Outside, an extended bamboo awning creates a comfortable shaded area over a large table and quite unique handmade Minoan style chairs, where dining is accompanied by magnificent sea views. Sunbeds with comfortable cushions further enhance the poolside terrace.
The lovely 10m x 5m pool itself is perfect for those who like to immerse themselves in a more genteel manner as a gradual slope descends around the perimeter, leaving the sudden plunge from the edge to the more active.
Just 20 mins walk away from Maleme, Villa Bamboo's within an easy reach of shops, tavernas and beaches and a bus stop, if you do want to travel further afield. Thus it will be of appeal to those who would prefer to leave the car at home.
NB Wider doorways and spacious wet rooms make this single level Villa suitable for wheelchair users. The pool has also been designed to have access not only for the more nervous swimmer, but also for wheelchair users. There is a plastic wheelchair freely available to anable infirm persons to get into the pool. Please ask for further details.

About Stefanos Paraskakis
I was born in the village (Maleme) I studied economics in Greece and management in the UK (Aston University MBA)I worked for a ferry shipping company for more than 20 years and few years ago I came back to my place of birth where I produce organic olive oil and manage two properties. I put a lot of work in the construction of the house and I enjoy welcoming quests and manual work on the farm.
Stefanos Paraskakis purchased this villa in 1890
Why Stefanos Paraskakis chose Maleme
For its modern design by an architect school friend of mine.
What makes this villa unique
A lonely villa which even though it is close to some local properties is completely private. It has all you could want as far as equipment inside the villa is concerned and the bedrooms are very spacious. Outsideyou can 'bake' in the sun on the excellent lounger taking time out to walk into the pool to cool down, or if the heat is too much the bamboo awning allaws you to cool down but still enjoy being outside. The villa is close enough to Maleme to walk easily for shopping or for a early morning run(!) on the long paved sea front or a relaxing evening meal..
