Spike's Harbour Lights
SpikeHi, my name is Spike and I'm a very spoiled Victorian Bulldog. So much so, I managed to persuade my parents to buy me a lovely beach house in Camber so I have somewhere to hang out when I feel like I need to get away from it all. It's great there, has everything a dog could need and it's right near my favourite beach. I love to feel the sand between my paws and to take a quick dip in the water to cool off after a long walk. I am able to go play on the beach all year round, as they have very kindly provided us four legged folk with our very own doggy section. I also love to go for walks at Rye Harbour and most of the pubs, cafe's and shops are very happy to have me as a customer. When I get home, sometimes a little wet and sandy, my parents have very kindly provided me with direct access to my back garden where I can make use of a very handy hose pipe. Try it out. You'd be barking mad not to! Spike x

Harbour Lights is just a short walk from Camber Sands. This wide, dune enclosed sandy beach is over 2 miles long and is the perfect spot in which to breathe in the exhilarating sea air. The village and dunes were once the haunt of smugglers, whose ill-gotten gains accounted for the prosperity of neighbouring Rye.
The property offers easy access to the UK's finest beach, ideal for flying kites, making sand castles and spending relaxing family time. This wide open space is popular with windsurfers, bathers and horse riders and there is a network of footpaths and cycle routes criss-crossing the nearby wildlife reservation. When you can’t be outside, there’s a flat screen tv, dvd player and games console to keep you and the family entertained.
Nearby Rye has a rich and colourful history. Its cobbled streets, enchanting church and beautifully preserved buildings are proof of the towns’ importance as a medieval Cinque Port.
Rye played an important part in the defence of the realm. Local fortifications like Camber Castle are now popular tourist attractions. Perched on a hill overlooking the marshes, Rye is the perfect place to explore, shop and eat out. Its charming ancient streets are filled with a great selection of independent retailers, restaurants, pubs and a weekly market.
With the blend of tradition and culture in Rye and the beauty and tranquillity of Camber Sands, Harbour Lights is ideally positioned to enjoy the very best this unique corner of England has to offer.

Guestbook comments from the manager
We really enjoyed our stay at Harbour Lights. John was there to welcome us and give us lots of local info. The welcome basket of goodies was a lovely touch. The house is extremely well equipped and furnished and spotlessly clean upon arrival. The beach was fabulous and very dog friendly, our Hungarian Vizsla, Leo loved it and would happily wander off in the dunes, returning occasionally to check we were alright. He would endlessly chase seagulls and oyster catchers ensuring he was well and truly tired out at the end of the day. The beach is also brilliant for children, the soft sand , the undulating dunes provided endless fun and games. As mentioned by previous guests, Camber itself is a bit disappointing but don't let that put you off, near by Rye was lovely with lots of nice eateries. On a rainy morning we tried Ashford outlet village about 25 mins away, worth a visit if you like shopping. Bodiam Castle is also a nice day out, dogs allowed in the park but not the castle. Would love to return as there is still lots to see and do.
