THREE BEDROOM VICTORIAN HOUSE.

Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday home in Broadstairs

Our Broadstairs Holiday House Is A Bright, Airy Victorian House Close To The Sea

Our house is a three bedroomed Victorian property within easy access of the local High street and the beach. It is a 4 minute walk to the main beach, Viking Bay. The house will sleep 4 to 6 people. The fixed beds are a double and a twin, plus there are two very good storage beds which can also be made up where needed for another two.

Downstairs there is a large through living room with TV, sofas and bookcases. At the rear of the living room there is a dining area. All flooring on the ground floor is original Victorian recently sanded and varnished wooden floor. There are lots of games, books and local information literature.

The kitchen has a washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, fridge freezer, electric cooker as well as well as the usual kettle, toaster, cutlery, plates, pots and pans. Outside is a paved courtyard garden area with plants and shrubs( this is a great sun trap if the weather is good). There is an outside table with chairs and a barbecue ideal for late nights in the summer heat. The back wall of the garden is an original 17th Century flint boundary to the local manor house.

On the first floor there is a brand new cosy bathroom with toilet; this is also equipped with an electric shower for immediate hot water. The front double bedroom is very large and airy, easily sleeping an extra bed or cot. By the right side window there is a small sofa which is ideal for dreamy book reading.

The middle bedroom has two single beds, cupboards and TV/DVD. The back bedroom is light and cosy suitable to sleep one or two at a squeeze.

The house is bright and simply decorated, meticulously cleaned and is full of beach artefacts and colours. On most walls original artwork can be found collected by the owners on their travels. It is a house with a calm happy atmosphere with the space to cater for families, couples or single people intent on a breakaway.

We chose to buy in Broadstairs because we would spend most holidays visiting the area and we fell in love with it. My own father lived there and used to put deck chairs up on the beach when he was a student for extra money. As a young girl I used to paddle and swim in Viking Bay which seemed like the most magical place in the world.

Judy Warren purchased this house in 2010

The house which we still haven’t named ( welcome to suggestions) is bright and airy and best of all 4 minutes walk to the beach and 2 mins to the High Street.

The house is unique as it is walking distance to every thing with sea side artefacts throughout. When you arrive a carton of fresh milk will be in the fridge.

Lovely house, perfect for families.

  • 5 out of 5
The house felt like a home, with plenty of personal touches but not so much that it can't feel like a place of one's own for a week. It was clean and well-appointed and we particularly liked the mix of old and new furnishings (not all IKEA as with many holiday lets). Judy and everyone we spoke to were lovely, even when we left something behind they kindly posted it straight back to us! We have 2 children under 5 - the biggest hits in Broadstairs for them were the house, the beach, Morelli's and Helter Skelter indoor play centre around the corner on York St - the owner Fiona couldn't have been nicer or more welcoming, and she runs a great cafe!

Car: not necessary

Broadstairs, 'the Jewel of Thanet', has something for everyone. It is one of the few traditional seaside places with its own harbour that is not spoilt by tourism and development.

5 minutes from the house are the beautiful sands of Viking Bay

In the summer Viking Bay plays host to Punch and Judy, a children’s holiday programme a surfing school as well as trampolines, old-fashioned pull swings, and shower, toilet and lift facilities on the beach. To make an extra special seaside break why not rent your own beach hut; these can be hired daily, weekly, monthly, or or seasonally.

Almost on the beach is the Palace Cinema, this is fabulous for the family as it is cosy and friendly showing all the latest films in a unique atmosphere.

Visit the spectacular award-winning Turner Contemporary Art Gallery in nearby Margate. This is free and fantastic for children and adults with activities laid on at the weekends for the younger ones.

Broadstairs was Charles Dickens favourite seaside holiday destination. Bleak house stands tall on the cliffs overlooking Viking Bay surrounded by old flint fishermen cottages and windy lanes. The Dickens Museum is well worth a visit, as is the Charles Dickens Public House serving tasty meals overlooking the bay. Broadstairs celebrates the famous author once a year in June with Dickens Week in which the locals dress up in old Victorian costumes and parade around the streets of this beautiful seaside resort.

There is a lovely walk from Broadstairs to Ramsgate encountering rock pools, fossils sandy bays and fantastic views whether you do it along the beach at low tide or on the cliff tops to the nearby town.

At Ramsgate is the glittering Royal harbour with its colourful bustling boats, seaside cafés and restaurants. You can sit down to a well earned hot chocolate outside watching the boats bumping about and relax in the glorious sunshine.

If you are eating in Broadstairs you are spoilt for choice just a stones throw away from the house are a multitude of different menus to dip into from Mediterranean to world cuisine Our favourite is Osteria Pizzeria Posillipo which overlooks Viking Bay and serves the best pizzas and Italian food in England in our opinion.

For golfers, there are a number of golf courses within easy reach, including the famous Royal St George's at Sandwich, home to the Open Championship 2011.

The Winter Gardens in Margate hosts an extensive variety of acts ranging from JLS to Michael McIntyre.

Ramsgate Swim Centre

Ramsgate Sports Centre

In February is the Broadstairs Blues Bash and in August is the famous Broadstairs Folk Week. Also the town hosts Dickens week and the Broadstairs Food Festival in October. There are always seasonal events for all of the family and every thing is within reach by car,,foot or public transport.

You can find more suggestions on the Visit Broadstairs, Visit Thanet and Stella-maris websites.

Broadstairs is fabulous for every one whether you are looking for peace and quite or a fun packed break, everything is on your doorstep a stones throw away.

Between November and February, South-Eastern are offering return travel from London to Margate for £10.
