The house can accommodate 6 people in beds and up to 8 people.

It is situated in the historic centre of the Old City of Rethymno, a city that has been hailed more than anyone else. It is a Venetian Mansion with some Turkish elements added later.

This building has been characterised as a Preservable Monument. It was restored with patience, respect and knowledge by its present owner, maintain absolutely every architectural elements as well as the simple luxury and nobleness that characterised it and distinguished it from the rest of the buildings.

In the book of the Rethimnia doctor Nikolaos Al. Kokonas (History of the Hospitals of Crete) and on the pages 21, 22 it is mentioned that this building (located at that time in the neighbourhood Gazi Housein Pasha) and belonged to the well known and aristocratic family of Edehm Klapsarakis, President of the Moslem Elders and Efkafio, was established between the years 1866 and 1870 as a State and a little later Municipal Hospital (Belentiye Hastanezi) for both Christans and Moslems between the years 1866 and 1870, according to the testimony of Mourahem Noumenakis.

The whole building was restored with patience, respect and knowledge by its present owner, old Rethymnian residents, who, in co-operation with their son, a civil engineer and excellent traditional craftsmen, step by step managed to recreate this residence, maintain absolutely every architectural elements as well as the simple luxury and nobleness that characterised it and distinguished it from the rest of the buildings. They are now offering you a stay in a unique and special building that you will always remember. It is a building carrying a famous past which now offers all the comforts of the present. In every room there are: telephone connection, satellite TV, computers, access to the internet. Also there are living room area, terraces with a wonderful view over the old city and the sea, where the guests can enjoy their breakfast or sunbathe. The sea is very near, 100 metres distance. All the crockery is fine chine of the 19th century. The beds are also pieces of art, some of them are of iron work and other are carved wood, work done by old Rethymnian carpenters.

Amazing house!

This is a wonderful building, set in the pedestrianised old town, a great location in a lovely tourist centre. The owners collected us from the bus station and made us feel very welcome, with gifts of wine, raki and salted almonds (to which we are now addicted). We were the first people to stay at the house, and though we loved it there were a few teething problems, which I understand the owners intend to sort out. The main difficulty is that there are four small kitchens, only really suitable for preparing breakfast and snacks, so self catering is difficult. The other problem was that the two bedrooms fronting the street were very noisy throughout the night and we were woken many times by the noise of passers by. We bought earplugs but were still disturbed, and this was in low season. If these matters are rectified I would highly recommend Villa Anassa.

The house consists of three bedrooms 'Amalia', 'Nikoloza', 'Annieza' 'Amalia', the name of the ex landlady, an old noblewoman of Rethymno, it is on the first floor of the wooden Kiosk and looks onto Arkadiou Street. It is spacious and give you a sense of peace. 'Nikoloza', the name of the daughter of the Venetian Marchant during the Venetian occupation in Rethymno, it gives a not of romanticism and is suitable for those who seek absolute peace and quiet. 'Annieza', the name of the daughter of the Venetian Aristocrat of the era of the Venetian occupation in Rethymno, It is on the second floor of the wooden kiosk, it is big with a high wooden skilfully made ceiling in three levels.
