The cottage dates back to the 18th century and is now a Grade II listed building, the majority of properties in Northbourne are listed and that includes the surrounding walls of gardens, Northbourne is also a Conservation area. The cottage has been owned by many people including most recently: 1949 Lady Aliki Russell who purchased the property and then passed onto her son Alexander Russell in 1971.
