About us, In 2007 my wife, Sarah, and I decided to move away from city life. We bundled up our four kids and the furniture in search of a sense of reality that we had both enjoyed during our own childhoods.
We found and bought an old run down dairy farm and set about renovating it with the plan to turn it into a rural retreat for guests to come and unwind close by to the majestic historic coast in Suffolk that we so loved ourselves.
This has and continues to be a family project and our boys have helped right the way through with innovative ideas, giving us a valuable kids perspective on what real spaces should be.
Our Holiday lets are secluded enough to feel freedom and the grounds relaxed enough to have a wander and take in all the wild life, including owls, woodpeckers, kingfishers and deer that inhabit our surroundings. We also have our own fair share of 'wonders' from the chickens (with great tasting real eggs for breakfast) a petting rabbit (which kids adore spending time with), to our tree house, tennis court and football area, to our boat house and fishing pond where a monster three pound eel was caught last year. (The Pike, however, continues to allude anglers alike). We hope there is something for all.
Slightly further afield there are stunning walks through the footpaths from Partridge Lodge which one way guide you to the beautiful Boulge Estate where lies, in a quiet secluded churchyard, Mr Edward Fitzgerald (translator of Omar Khayyam). Amble in the other direction and find yourself in Bredfield village itself, with a local pub, The Castle and the Village Shop to investigate.
Our latest venture's include facebook (a living history of life and holidays at Partridge Lodge). Our river kayak tours and weekend events (including guitar workshops, yoga seminars and Special Occassion hire).
Sarah Henry purchased this barn in 2007
We are idealy set amongst a rural peaceful idyl just outside Woodbridge, with a wonderful local community in Bredfield with its community shop, play ground and local pub with good food (its a lovely walk over a footpath from Partridge Lodge). Our lets have their own unique sence of style, space and independance here, with plenty of space in and around the grounds to explore.
