Our Home

It almost sounds unreal, the magic word; “French Riviera”, but it’s not. This wonderful house is located in the very centre of it all, in a small typical French village, called Mougins. What about the following examples of distance from our house to wonderful places: 5 minutes to Cannes (and the Mediterranean), 20 minutes to Antibes, 25 minutes to Nice, 35 minutes to Monaco / Monte Carlo, 45 minutes to Italy (3 hours to the city Milan) , and 60 minutes to St. Tropez. And if this isn’t enough, you can always ad places in between such as St Maxim, Aix, Frejus, Vence, San Remo, Menton, St Paul de Vence, Marseille and many many more…

Mougins, the famous ”gourmet village”, is actually the heart of Provence, as a suburb to the famous city Cannes, most known for its yearly Film festival and great “jet set” shopping.

Our house, a typical French old stone house, has been totally, but carefully renovated in 2012 and 2013. We have preserved the original stile but at the same time made something brand new and very comfortable. The house has the space of almost 300 square meters. It’s placed on a typical French “slanting” piece of land and the garden is 3000 square meters, filled with fruit-, olive- and lemon-trees.

The house is in two different etages (floors). The entrée level includes a lounge, kitchen, living room, dining room, library, an office and a guest toilet. At this level, you will also find two master bedrooms, each with its own bathroom and toilet, and a separate and practical laundry room.

Upstairs you will find the guest department. This sleeping area includes two bedrooms, a bathroom and toilet, one small and one big walk in closet. The master bedroom upstairs has a beautiful balcony. In total, there are 4 bedrooms with 8 beds.

The outdoor pool includes 70 000 liters of water and the size is approximately 10 by 4 meters. The depth is 1,8 meters and it also includes a built in “plage” with 30 cm depth. The water is kept warm by the sun and rise to above 30 degrees Celsius in the summer.

The pool is automatic cleaned by the sand filter and timer functions, and our pool maintenance guys come every week. The pool is unbelievable luxury in the summer and a must when the temperature in the air excide 30 degrees Celsius in the shadow. On the pool area you find sun beds, several tables and chairs and of course big parasols.

The garden is a well-kept wild growing wonderful place which includes several exciting and useful trees and plants. Among others, you find orange trees, lime trees, lots of olive trees, rosemary hedges, thyme bushes, big trees with bay leafs, plum, grapes, figs and much more.

Our more than 100 square meters terrace between the house and the pool is simply wonderful, and it works as an extra room in most of the year. Besides stools, hammocks and plants, there is a huge table for 8 – 10 people, a modern weber barbeque and an unbelievably beautiful view.

A wifi network connected to our Internet broadband keeps you connected to the world.

The kitchen is my favorite room. Here you find everything you can possibly ask for and even more. Everything is in order when it comes to preparing those wonderful French gourmet dinners. The kitchen includes all staple commodities that you need and you find a brand new, big refrigerator for all the rosé wine you can possibly drink.

The four bedrooms are all light and enjoyable. Three of them include big sized double beds (king size) and the fourth have two separate beds. Most of the rooms have fans to get the pleasant breeze when it’s time to sleep. The house is also equipped with air-condition. The rooms also have mosquito nets to keep the small guys outside.

You find three bathrooms (including shower or bathtub) and four toilettes in the house.

Our Neighborhood

The house, which is located in the small village Mougins, a suburb to Cannes in the heart of the French Riviera, is perfectly situated. And the area gives you everything that you can possibly expect and hope for. Everything is typically French, the house itself, the neighbors, the shops and the market. The village has a great atmosphere and are very friendly, and everybody speaks English around here.

The short distance to “everything” gives you the possibility to visit many different places while staying here. A great and very convenient way of explore the beautiful southern part of Europe. Italy is just 45 minutes away, so don’t miss the market for olives and ham in Ventimiglia…

There are more than 20 golf courses in just some 20 kilometers distance from the house. And if you want to get the cultural doze filled, you have all the “big ones” around the corner. Chagall, Matisse, Leger, Picasso, Renoir and many more… they all lived in this area and they all have their own museum in the neighborhood.

When it comes to cooling down, the choice is yours. Ether you can enjoy our own pool below the terrace together with a glass of rosé wine, or you can go down to the sea, trying out some of the activities or just look at all the nice and famous people lying on the beach.

The weather on the “Cote d’Azur” is always nice… you can expect more than 320 days of sun and blue sky every day, and it’s never too hot, due to the nice breeze from the Mediterranean.

Mougins is most famous for its restaurants and art galleries. More than twenty of the best restaurants in Mougins are in one way or the other well known in the southern France and most of them are found in the “Guide Michelin”. People from all over the Riviera are coming here to eat and the small village is more than lively in the evenings.

Cannes, just minutes away from Mougins, is famous for the shopping at the Croisette, where you can mingle with the rich and famous. The 'Croisette' is Rodeo Drive, Fifth Avenue, Lake Shore Drive and the Champs Elysee all rolled into one fabulous shopping experience. There you will find the boutiques of the world's top designers, including Hermes, Chanel, Versace, Bulgari, Cartier, Louis Vuitton, Bulgari, Yves St. Laurent, and many others. But don’t worry, if you want to find more “value for money”, you just move one block north from the sea to Rue Antibes… best shopping in town.

In Cannes you can also find four Casinos if you don’t want to visit the “big one” in Monaco. They are located in the Carlton Hotel, the Noga Hilton, and the Palais des Festival. The fourth casino, the Palm Beach Casino, is located at the other end of Cannes in the Palm Beach area.

Renowned throughout the world for its balmy climate and 'azur' waters, the region is still one of the most picturesque vacation spots in the world. Within just a short drive from our house, you can visit the perfume capital of Grasse, the charming fortified port of Antibes, or the legendary walled city of St. Paul de Vence. Monte Carlo and the Italian coastal resorts are under an hour away. Or you can take a day trip to St. Tropez or into the back country of Provence. The region holds a plethora of charms; cultural, historical, culinary and recreational. Don’t forget the wine tour or maybe even some skiing in the Alps, two hours away…

We are a Swedish family who lives in Stockholm and we have been the owner of a vacation home in Mougins for more than 13 years now. As non smokers, we prefer that you enjoy the cigar together with the French Cognac outside on the terrace. We do not have any pets ether, due to the respect of people who suffer from allergy.

A maid can come and clean the house as often as you want for a small sum of euro. She will also take care of the cleaning on your departure day.

Buying a house in prestigious Mougins in the year 2000 was a dream comes through for us. It has given us fantastic times with friends and family and lots of nice memories. We hope that you will experience the same and that you will get pleasant memories that stay forever after visiting our house.

In 2011 we found our new house in our old neighborhood and decided to start our 'once in a life' projects by building, renovating and creating our dream home. The result was fantastic and we moved in during the spring of 2013. It is with great pleasure we now welcome you to our new home.
