PEACEFUL APARTMENT IN THE OLD HISTORICAL CENTRE

Photos and Description of this 1 bedroom holiday apartment in Amsterdam Old Centre

1 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom, Sleeps 2

This welcoming holiday apartment is situated in an historic converted warehouse overlooking a typical Amsterdam canal. The development is extremely peaceful and only a short walking distance to Central station with very good access to Metro stations (Nieuwmarkt and Waterloo Plein), tram and bus services.

The apartment is on the same street as the world famous Gassan Diamond. The closest attractions include, Opera House, Rembrandt House, Hermitage Museum, Jewish/Portuguese Synagogue, Dam Square, NEMO and the Maritime museum. There is a diverse selection of shops, cafes, restaurants and galleries nearby to explore.

As you enter the historic warehouse building you will be surprised at the modern communal courtyard gardens within. The development also benefits from a modern entrance security system and an elevator to help you get to/from the 3rd floor apartment with your luggage or shopping. The apartment has a comfortable and modern interior with delightful views over the canal.

If you want all of the convenience of a great central location in Amsterdam and demand a safe, comfortable and peaceful place to stay, then this apartment is for you.

Many Amsterdam houses and flats have steep staircases to gain access. This apartment has a lift which negates the need to climb stairs.

Many visitors to the city choose to hire bicycles during their stay. One of the main cycle hire companies is only a short walk from the apartment. You can also park your bike(s) off the street in the residents parking area. This can only be reached by residents and the community is gated.

We are happy to provide specific advice for your visit to make the most of your stay. This might include recommending a local Thai restaurant or give you ideas of places to visit outside the city should you choose.

Other rental options may be available for those staying over 1 week and we would be happy to negotiate a discount on our advertised rates.

WA central haven

  • 5 out of 5
This apartment was ideal for our time in Amsterdam being fully self-contained, secure and within easy walking distance of the key attractions of the city.

We were extremely impressed with the information and advice provided by Marcos and Peter prior to our arrival in Amsterdam. The welcome by Peter and the unexpected gifts were part of their service. We would not hesitate in recommending this apartment to others visiting Amsterdam and we will certainly use again should we return.

Owner's Response: Hello Barry & Jane,

Thank you both so much for your lovely review, 5 star rating and for your strong recommendation. We’re pleased to hear that you found the apartment perfect for your holiday needs. Clearly, the central location coupled with the peaceful setting are the key features which all of our guests seem to appreciate.

We are not a multiple property business and therefore we do benefit from getting to know our guests before they arrive. Furthermore, Peter greets all of our guests and provides a very warm welcome and we’re both always contactable throughout your stay and beyond.

It would be our pleasure to welcome you both to the Apartment in future years.

Best regards,

Marcos

A Very Cute Apartment

  • 4 out of 5
What a wonderful welcome you receive when you book to stay at this delightful apartment. Peter met us having provided lots of information about getting to the property and showed us around. He had provided flowers, wine, chocolate and nuts in addition to the normal tea, coffee, sugar etc. His only request in return was that we keep the plants watered as it promised to be a sunny week. And so it was. This very comfortable and clean apartment was a wonderful base from which to explore Amsterdam. So convenient yet tucked away from the main tourist areas and therefore quieter than a more central position. Five minutes walk from a fantastic supermarket. The property was exactly as described and shown in the photos on the website. My only criticism of this apartment is the method of payment which because you pay in two instalments puts a further £50 on the cost of the holiday in bank charges. I have already started recommending!

Owner's Response: Hi Denise & Rob,

Thanks for finding the time in your hectic schedule to write a review regarding your stay. In fact, you are the 35th guests to write a review in the last 2 years. Every review is welcome and our aim remains to please all of our guests the best we can. Your comments have, thankfully, echoed that of previous guests through highlighting the warm welcome afforded by Peter and quiet, central location of our apartment. The outside plants flourished during your stay and we appreciate it when guests take a few minutes to keep them watered.

We’re also pleased you enjoyed the small welcome gifts and that you both had a wonderful time exploring Amsterdam.

Clearly, we are a little disappointed to learn that you incurred such high bank charges for the intra EU money transfer – I was quite shocked at the costs you outlined and I know that for a lot of banks the fees are roughly £10 (from UK) or €10 from elsewhere in Europe. I was so shocked that I took at look at the costs online and I believe that Santander do charge £25 per transfer. I have chosen to stick to this method as I believe it is the safest as they clearly identify both parties and the exchange rate is normally very fair. I did have a less than good service from Paypal once and hence reverted to Bank Transfers only. I’m hoping that the EU will force down the costs of transfers in the coming months. All methods incur charges for one or both parties (including the Homeaway payment service) hence we keep our basic price structure as low as possible to reduce the costs for travellers overall. It is worth noting that we have no hidden charges such as cleaning, administration, linen/towels, internet – in fact, we also don’t charge for early or late arrivals/departures. However, I do fully agree that the charges that you incurred were very high and I hope we still provided great value through our competitive/transparent pricing overall.

I would encourage all future guests to check bank charges and, if possible, make the payment online and not via a branch/phone as these can increase the charges.

Thank you so much for your review. We always offer discounts to returning guests and if you do return to the City then please let us know and we will guarantee the best possible price. Thanks also for recommending us to your friends and family.

You were delightful guests and thank you again for choosing us.
I wish you both a relaxing Summer.

Best regards,
Marcos (and Peter)

Peaceful, modern, centric, clean.

  • 5 out of 5
A beautiful apartment in a beautiful neighborhood. Peter's welcome with so many thoughtful details was the perfect beginning to my first visit to Amsterdam.
The apartment was impeccable. Flowered plants adorned the small balcony facing one of the canals as well as the living area's windowsills. The kitchen had all the appliances one could need and was very clean. As was the bathroom. The bedroom was large, with a very comfortable bed a large closet, a desk and chest of drawers and, oh joy!,a clothes washer and dryer. I highly recommend this rental apartment. Thank you, Marcos and Peter,

Owner's Response: Hello Viola and Maria,

Thank you for finding the time to write such a lovely review and for your glowing recommendation before you even get home. We know you’re in Strasbourg at this time – hopefully finding some time to relax in between studying French!

We are extremely pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay at our apartment. As a first time visitor to Amsterdam you will have no doubt appreciated the central location and we agree that it is a beautiful neighborhood.

The view from the lounge is superb and it is hard not to sit by the window just watching boats. The comfort and cleanliness of the apartment is clearly very important to us and we’re pleased to hear that we didn’t disappoint you on both counts.

We wish you good luck with your French course and thank you again for choosing our apartment. It was our absolute pleasure to have you stay and we hope you are able to return in the future.

Enjoy the rest of your holiday!

Best regards,

Marcos & Peter

Lovely apartment in great location

  • 5 out of 5
This is a really lovely apartment in a perfect location - within walking distance of everything. It's really well equipped and was spotlessly clean. Peter met us on arrival and wasn't at all concerned that we didn't get there until after 10pm. He was very welcoming and we were very pleased that he had thoughtfully provided milk, coffee etc as well as wine, flowers and chocolates. He also gave us directions to the very good local supermarket and a "night store" which was open late if we needed anything else. We were able to have a late checkout on our departure day which was very convenient. The apartment is very light and airy and has a great view of the canal - it was fascinating watching the boats go past. An ideal choice for a holiday in Amsterdam. We stayed 2 weeks and had a great time.

Owner's Response: Hello Joan & Tony,

Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review and to share your experiences. Obviously, I’m delighted to hear that you found the apartment was a perfect base for your 2 week stay. The small extra touches such as milk, coffee etc... are there to help guests settle in fast. I understand as much as anyone, how lovely it is to have a cup of tea or coffee, put your feet up to relax and unwind after a long journey. The wine may be especially welcome if the outbound journey was particularly stressful!

Peter really does enjoy meeting each of our guests and always finds the time to explain the apartment and the many local amenities. We continue to try hard to facilitate flexible arrivals/departures depending on our guests travel itinerary. We certainly wouldn’t want to keep guests waiting for hours on the streets with luggage.

I also remember how delightful it is to sit and watch the boats on the canal. The apartment benefits from having no pedestrians/traffic on the canal side and, therefore, it really is ‘peaceful’. Previous guests have also enjoyed using the residents’ picnic tables next to the canal when the sun is shining.

Finally, thank you once again for your recommendation and for your detailed review.

Have a great Summer and we hope to see you both(or your friends/family) in Amsterdam sometime soon.

Best regards,
Marcos

Great Location. Great Apartment

  • 5 out of 5
We arrived on Friday April 12 and were met at the apartment by the Key Manager Peter. Peter was very friendly in showing us around the apartment and pointing us in the direction of the Supermarket and such. The apartment itself is perfect. A great size for a week (or longer) holiday. The view from the apartment is wonderful. We spent a lot of time just hanging on the balcony. The location cannot be beat so close to all the cafe's at Nieuwmarket but far enough away to be quiet. We stumbled across the hammock and set that up and I got some serious reading done in that hammock !!!
I would highly recommend staying here and we hope to do so in the future. Marcos and Peter made us feel very welcome and at home.

Owner's Response: Greetings Heidi and Erik,
Thank you so much for your lovely review.
Peter will be delighted to read your feedback as he works very hard (in between his real job) to ensure all of our guests are made to feel welcome from the moment they arrive. We’re pleased that you found the location of the Apartment ideal for your needs and that you appreciated the many local amenities. It is centrally located albeit without the street noise – you clearly enjoyed the peaceful canal side views.
I had totally forgotten about the hammock and I’m pleased that you were able to make use of it – I too, used it often to relax and read books.
Thank you once again for sharing your thoughts as we know how important the traveller reviews are in helping our potential guests make their choices. It really is a total pleasure to communicate with friendly, nice and interesting people from every continent of the world. Peter had the added bonus in that he was able to meet you both in person.
Have a great Summer!

Marcos

Spring in Amsterdam

  • 5 out of 5
This was an excellent location in a delightful area - well place for visiting most sites. We mostly walked to Museums & Galleries, but the station is 15 minutes walk, & trams & buses can be accessed there. Peter 's welcome was friendly & efficient, & the apartment clean & well maintained. The recommendations for restaurants in the area were good - especially enjoyed Eetcafe van Beeren. A good supermarket ( Albert Heijn ) is at the end of the street.

Owner's Response: Hello David & Kathleen,

First of all, thank you both very much for taking the time to write a review about your recent stay. I know the UK had a rather damp winter and that you enjoyed some Spring-like weather during your week in Amsterdam. You have kindly reinforced many of the key selling points in respect of the convenient central location.

I’m also pleased to hear that you had the opportunity to visit some of the local restaurants that we (and previous guests) have recommended. The small selection we recommend are tried and tested, with the added advantage that they do not necessarily target the tourist market, and cater mainly for locals. We would be happy to include any of your own restaurant recommendations so that future guests may also try.

It was Peter’s pleasure to welcome you both to Amsterdam and we hope that you return in the future. In the meantime, let me wish a great Summer and thanks again for the review.

Best regards,
Marcos
