A wonderful listed deco apartment located in the most picturesque area of London. Famed for its history, culture and residents, Richmond enjoys beautiful landscapes whilst only 10 miles from the cosmopolitan capital's centre. A few minutes walk from the famous Richmond Riverside, Marble Hill House, Terrace Gardens, Thames walks and cycle ways, Richmond Park, Ham House and Kew Royal Botanical Gardens.
The apartment has been designed, equipped and furnished for adults retaining many original deco features and comprises spacious living room, separate dining room, 2 double bedrooms, a dressing room/study or bedroom 3 upon request, a beautiful Italian designer kitchen and a luxurious German designer bathroom, with deep fill bath tub and power shower.
The apartment is extremely well located for convenience shops, cafes, bars, pubs, restaurants, theatres, cinemas and all public transport, bus, train and tube. All local amenities and sites of interest are in walkable distance with District Line Tube and high speed transport links to central London (15 mins), Surrey countryside and attractions such as Hampton Court, Ascot, Windsor Castle, Wimbledon and stately homes.
The apartment has Wifi in all rooms, two Internet browser tablets with Skype, Facebook and email access, printer, Smart 3D TV, cinema projection with Netflix on demand films, Sonos internet sound system in all rooms for world radio stations and access to Spotify on demand music library. A standard 3.5mm jack for external devices is provided for iPods and smart phones etc.
A full library of holiday reading paperbacks, classic novels, poetry and heavy going philosophical texts!
Luxury linen, towels, bath robes and slippers are supplied along with luxury consumables within the kitchen and bathroom to make your stay even more memorable.
There is a no shoes, no smoking and no pets policy.
I was born and educated in Richmond and worked within London and the EU for 35 years. I am now retired with continued interests in fine art, music, film and philosophy which is reflected in the apartment's style. I have two adult children who were brought up in Richmond where Poplar Court apartments was the family home with many fond memories.

Poplar Court is a classic 1930's property with many original deco features, large rooms, parquet flooring and high ceilings. The apartment is located in the most ideal place for convenience shops, boutique shops, restaurants, cafes, bars, pubs and within walking distance of the main attractions of Richmond, Twickenham, Ham and Kew. It is at the hub of all that should be seen within Richmond Upon Thames.
Without doubt Richmond is the most beautiful area within greater London. The area has attracted centuries of royalty, famous artists, writers, poets, musicians and international celebrities.
Poplar Court apartments offers all the luxury and charm of a listed boutique hotel but in the style, comfort and privacy of your home.
I love this area and will never tire of its views, historic architecture, parks, walks, wildlife and riverside attractions: beautiful throughout all four seasons.
We greatly enjoyed our stay on Poplar Court. The listing was accurate. The place was spotlessly clean. The owner was friendly and offered good service whenever we needed it. We would strongly recommend this residence to most of our friends (except those with mobility problems on which see below).
We have stayed at many places in London over the 40+ years since we left London to live in Canada and Poplar Court is outstanding among them, having the size, atmosphere and fittings of a superior home rather than a hotel suite. It’s location is excellent, being 5 minutes’ walk from St Margaret’s station and 15 minutes’ walk to Richmond station, both with frequent service to Waterloo. There are also frequent bus services just outside the door going to both stations.
The immediate locale within walking distance offers several excellent restaurants and a range of shops. The Indian convenience store just a few doors on the right going towards Richmond offers an excellent range of choice unusual in such a small store.
Our one problem was the result of my wife’s restricted mobility. The kitchen is wonderfully outfitted with everything you could want, and more, but because it is small, some of the materials must be accessed by a standing of a small set of steps—difficult for those with balance problems. The bathroom again is small but well fitted. However, the depth of the bath, which will be an advantage to those who like to soak fully immersed in the water, was a disadvantage to us because the sides were so high that my wife could not get into or out of it without help from me.
But those were the only inconveniences, which will be relatively unimportant to most, in an otherwise outstanding residence.

Perfect location within walking distance of: the beautiful Richmond Riverside, Richmond Terrace for 'The View', Richmond Royal Park, Kew Gardens, Marble Hill, Orleans Park, Ham House. A short bus ride to: Hampton Court, Syon House, Osterley House. A short train ride to Central London, Wimbledon, Surrey Hills, Windsor Castle and Cliveden Stately Home.
