Ubud is one of the 5 most visited locations in Bali. Ubud itself has a lot to offer, and with it's central location in Bali you have always easy access to other parts of Bali. Ubud is the Yoga centre in Asia, and in Ubud you fill find a lot of culture, music, art, good food and inspiration. Surrounded by rice fields and jungle, this place is magic. In the village you will find the sacred monkey forest, a lot of restaurants and shopping, live music, religious ceremonies, performances, fitness and well-being. People are very friendly. Ubud is located 1,5 hours from the airport, 1 hour from Kuta, Seminyak and Denpasar. There is 15 minutes to the closest beach and only 30 minutes to some of the most beautiful beaches in Bali; Sanur and Padang Bai (Blue Lagoon), good for snorkelling, diving and surfing!
Just north of Ubud there is beautiful nature, fruit plantations, rivers and mountains. Go trekking, river rafting or cycling. Or maybe you want to visit the chocolate factory, try the Luwak coffee (most expensive coffee in the world) or go see nice waterfalls, lakes and views in Kintamani. From Padang Bai there are boats going to the Gili island.
All small villages have their own speciality in handicraft, which is unique and makes shopping here fun. Go to Mas for wood carvings, to Celuk for silver jewellery, to Batulan for stone carvings or to Tegallalang to buy interior and gifts for less (export prices).
