Property was stunning

  • 4 out of 5
Property was very clean and very well equipped. Shame that the problem with the heating wasn't sorted out until the Monday, we did get quite cool. Also we were informed that the downstairs shower didn't drain well but were provided with 2 towels to mop up the excess water. This proved woefully inadequate and the sopping wet towels became rather smelly after a couple of days.
This problem is not a new one and should have been sorted out. It was almost accepted that we had to put up with it and just use the towels.
Also it would have been most helpful to provide more that 1 loo roll per couple per stay.
As a suggestion can a shower seat be provided in the walk in showers if needed? Elderly people can find standing up in a shower difficult.
However, overall we did enjoy our stay and would recommend the lodge.

An ideal base with lots to explore in the area

The property offers the perfect blend of peace and quiet with easy access to many amenities and attractions. Walk out the front door and the sound of birdsong and nothing else is striking - a true countryside idyll. Yet the market town of Taunton is no more than 2 miles away, offering a wide range of retail and dining options, along with a theatre and multi-screen theatre.

The Quantock Hills are also on the doorstep; the first designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in England and are ideal for more energetic visitors including walkers and cyclists. Also in the area are the West Somerset Railway, Hestercombe Gardens and Fyne Court. Despite its central location in Somerset, the coastline is only 15 miles away, while Exeter, Glastonbury and Yeovil are all easily driveable.

Flycatchers Lodge is perfectly placed with easy access by rail or road. It is within 10 minutes of Taunton’s mainline rail station (London Paddington 1 hour 40 mins), and major road links (M5 Junction 24 & 25).
