The Perfect Getaway

Seven of my fellow workers rented this place for a girls' getaway. The house is expansive enough that everyone could have her privacy and yet hang out together when we choose to, which was just about all of the time. There is a huge not just 'eat-in' but 'live-in' kitchen. The place is very unique and individual in its decor and its charm, more European than typically American. I kept discovering different spots on the grounds where I could be contemplative and feel the serene peace of nature. There is a picnic table down near the water's edge where I think I spent every early morning just to watch the sunrise. The property faces directly east, so the spectacular sunrises and sunsets were breathtaking. Some of the girls were more interested in the antique shops and the private beach and spent much of the time shopping or sunning. Me, I was happy just to soak up the beauty of nature, quiet, secluded, and meditative. Oh... and the home made fruit pies weren't bad either.

Elegance, Style, and Seclusion

This was our second time renting this property and I think we enjoyed it even more than last time. We are gourmet cooks and to have the luxury of a lavishly equipped kitchen was one of the reasons we returned. It's an enormous country kitchen where the whole family gathered and spent much of the time. Because there are two huge tables, a divan, a TV, a music system and all the elements that make for a happy gourmet. The house has lots of old world charm, antique four-poster beds, oriental rugs, and high ceilings. There are two local fish markets which are excellent, a nearby farm stand, and a reliable butcher five minutes away. We spent an entire day with the wine tastings at the grand succession of vineyards on the north shore. Plan on a designated driver when you plan this one. We plan to come back.

A gem house in Long Island!

Perfect house for my family of 9, including 4 children ranging from 2 to 7. We had great fun at the pool and the spacious backyard. The house, even though somewhat dated, is in good condition and the kitchen is fairly well equipped. Smith Point Beach is only 25 minutes away and we also visited the Aquarium.

We had a small plumbing problem with the kitchen sink, but it was quickly repaired by a plumber called by Rich. Definitely, all of us enjoyed the vacation. We are likely coming back next year.

Rented this property for memorial day weekend n had a blast! the house is a little dated but the backyard more than makes up for it. Launching my jet skies was easy n about a block away. Richard did a great job n took care of our every need! Also my security deposit was returned in a timely matter....Thanks again Richard n I will rent this house again!!

Doc your boat, or take it out into the Bay for water skiing, tubing, or swimming off the private Fire Island beach on the ocean. Or sample some of Long Island’s primo fishing spots. Cool off at Splish Splash water park or at the Atlantis Aquarium.

Visit the two State Park sites for biking, hiking, kayaking. There are three golf courses, the giant Tangier Outlet Mall, and three (3 star) restaurants nearby, as well as a children's petting zoo and local horseback riding. Take the tasting tour at Long Island's best wineries and try the organic farm stands. Walk along the private gated beach or just listen to the surf at night.

Practice the piano, play croquet, hit some baseballs, or just relax on a big old swing facing the water and get reacquainted with your family.
