Craigwood:

There is so much opportunity to have a relaxing or fun filled holiday when you book a stay at Craigwood. Situated in the heart of Inverness you only have a 5 minutes walk to the City Centre, where there is enough facilities that anyone would require during a holiday.

Inverness (known as the Highland Capital) is the ideal spot for touring the Highlands along with the East and West Coasts as it is centrally located and every other City and Town is only a couple of hours or so by car, (Aberdeen-Shire 2 ½ hrs, Ullapool 1hr, Fort-William 1 ½ hrs) so you can still observe Scotland’s remote regions and get back to civilisation at the end of the day!

Inverness has plenty to offer from Golf Courses (Scottish Open held each year in July) to Beaches, Walks, Fishing, Skiing, Shopping, Restaurants, Whisky Distilleries (follow the whisky trails round the spey valley), History, Nature and much more….

If its golf you’re interested in, there are many fantastic courses all around the local area and Craigwood is centrally situated to experience them all.

Castle Stuart, where the Scottish Open is being held each year in July, is a magnificent course, which skirts around the southern Moray Coast line.

Inverness Golf Club is a beautiful parkland course, in the middle of Inverness, established in 1883. The course boasts lovely green fairways and is popular with the local residents. The course is a 5 minute drive away.

The Royal Dornoch, on the Black Isle, which is a 30-40 minute drive away.

During the winter season and stretching into spring you can go skiing in the Cairngorm mountain range which is 30mins drive from Craigwood.

There are blue nosed dolphins in the Moray Firth which are readily seen at Channonry Point, Rosemarkie. Birds like Pheasants and buzzards are commonly seen flying around in the Black Isle, which is fantastic place to experience the wild nature of the area. There are also many quaint little fishing villages, that the Black Isle offers; this is a 20minute drive away.

The area is steeped in History with numerous castles to be visited; like Dunrobin Castle, Urquhart Castle, along with Culloden Battlefield and of course the mysterious Loch Ness which is a 15minute drive away, you will not be short of things to do or places to visit!

You won't be stuck for things to do!

Fantastic home for a family visit to the Highlands

  • 5 out of 5
A clean, comfortable home in a fantastic location. Our multigenerational family had a great time. Dining room would seat 12 easily with room for more. The pool table entertained us and the kitchen was user friendly and we'll supplied with essentials and useful items. An easy 5-7 minute walk to many restaurants and bars and a 5-10 minute drive to highways. The only negative -the TV service was sporadic at best. Owner was easy to communicate with and reservation process simple. Would absolutely rent here again.

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for the kind review and we are glad you enjoyed your holiday. As we discussed, it was likely that the TV was not on the satellite service; meaning that you didn't receive the quality picture that we normally receive in the house....which was unfortunate.

Excellent accommodation and great location

  • 5 out of 5
We stayed at Craigwood with family and friends for 2 weeks in August. We liked the well furnished and tastefully decorated house. It is comfortable and cozy. The billiard room is a plus and
Was well used by all party members. The garden is pleasant and
well maintained and we were lucky enough to enjoy the sunshine. The location is perfect, 10 mn walk from town center and ideal to do excursions in the highlands.
We were all delighted to stay there and we highly recommend this place. Last but not least communication with the owner was
Easy and efficient. Many thanks to Mark and Natasha.

An extraordinary house in a great location!

  • 5 out of 5
Craigwood is in deed as advertised: a large Victorian house in the heart of the highlands. It is in grate shape and very nicely furnished, decorated and equipped. There is lots of space for a lot of people and it would really be a pity to just eat and sleep there. It is not only equipped with anything a vacationer appreciates (great kitchen, bath washing machine etc) but also with all sorts of electronic entertainment devices, a fire place and a great pool table. A cozy garden is surrounding the house. On arrival you will appreciate to find the house in a very clean and tidy shape with a personal touch! The house is conveniently located near the center of Inverness and shopping and going out is just a short walk. The town has a lot to offer and we were impressed by the nightlife on Friday and Saturday. Inverness has been an excellent base for our excursions in the northern part of Scotland, We conveniently reached hiking trails in the highlands, beaches, distilleries, old monuments, lochs and much more...
Craigwood, Inverness and Scotland are warmly recommended by the nine of us (2 families from southern Germany)!

Pre Christmas get-together

  • 5 out of 5
We had a great pre-Christmas get-together at Craigwood. We decided to head up north to Inverness for some shopping and have a nice break with all our friends before celebrating Christmas. We had a light covering of snow and a log fire which added to the festive season; the house was excellent for this and met our needs. Will definately do this again we had a fantastic time!

Great Holiday!

  • 4 out of 5
We stayed in Craigwood for 1 week. My Wife, Children and I enjoyed staying in a big old house. The games room was a welcomed area for our 2 older boys plus i was able to show them that dad was still able to play pool!!
It was a great location for walks into town, and there is also a great walk down to Ness Islands (also a park near-by for the children).
We came home very refreshed and would love to come back again!
Lovely House!!
