Photos and Description of this holiday apartment in Westminster - Buckingham Gate 2
Light filled studio apartment minutes from the gates of Buckingham Palace
This is the art of small at its very best. There is something undeniably satisfying about the clever pithiness of this light filled studio apartment. Like a self-contained pod in the heart of Westminster, this is the perfect hideout from which to explore the city’s heritage, architecture and culture, both ancient and modern. Within minutes you can be loitering outside the ornate wrought iron gates of Buckingham Palace, gazing up at the gothic stone spires of Westminster Abbey, or enjoying the grand formalities of Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament.
Your host is a successful businesswoman who often works late and this smart studio is her ever so convenient crash pad in the heart of London. She delights in the traditional streets and architecture of this part of the city, and there is nothing she likes better than enjoying the parks, shops, and excitement of the West End with her husband, without the hassle of extended travel.
Ingenious space saving contemporary furnishings, and a crisp, bright, well designed layout mean that nothing feels poky and everything is marvellously within reach. A huge mirror on one wall in the living area enlarges the sense of space, and a stylish white sofa cunningly transforms into a double bed when you need it- or even a table and chairs for supper time. So grab a cold beer and nestle in to watch TV on the discreet wall mounted monitor, just the ticket after a hard day’s fun exploring the city on your doorstep.
Later, you can chop and chat in a gleaming contemporary galley kitchen. Or wash away the day and revitalize for a night on the tiles in a luxuriant bathroom with real stone surfaces, and a walk-in shower, replete with White Company products for some thorough pampering.
Beyond the lair
Take a morning stroll through the John Nash designed green spaces of historic St James Park, and head down to Oliver Peyton’s lake side restaurant where you can watch the flamingos whilst savouring a gourmet breakfast. Afterwards, discover the city’s most exclusive high-end boutiques, and upscale cafes in Belgravia, and nearby Knightsbridge and Kensington. There is art in abundance in Queens Gallery and Art Census, both on Buckingham Palace Road. But if it’s high street fashion and the bustle of town you’re after, you can be in Piccadilly Circus in just over 15 minutes by tube.
