Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday apartment in Putney & Wandsworth - Albion Riverside
By the wave-washed banks of the Thames, casting upon the ancient waters
The colour and the shape
By the wave-washed banks of the Thames, casting a distinctly futuristic reflection upon the ancient waters, sits Albion Riverside. Designed by Norman Foster, and realised in the very finest glass and steel, its rippling architecture is a marvel of modernity. And, inside, on the eighth floor, you’ll find a home that’ll dazzle in a different way. Art deco designs, soul-stirring artwork, and a joyous riot of colour and texture make this apartment as luxurious as it is unique. In fact, so absorbing is the interior that you may not notice the staggering skyline view from the balcony. Nor the on-site gym and swimming pool. Or just how very close you are to the classy buzz of Chelsea...
Two of a kind
It would take an expert’s insight to create an apartment half as special as this one, so it won’t be a surprise to learn that both your hosts are practised in the fine art of the home – she is a chartered surveyor, he a property developer. The parents of two boys who love to keep active in Albion Riverside’s gym and pool.
Generously proportioned floor-to-ceiling windows ensure that every last flash of colour and every glowing surface in the sitting room is ravished with light. Let the cowhide tickle your toes as you settle into the L-shaped sofa, the better to gaze upon the modern and marvellous paintings enlivening the walls. A luxurious glass dining table is surrounded by chairs which are truly crazy with colour – every zesty shade of which is reflected in the huge vintage mirror. Prepare a glass of something cool in the modern kitchen, then lord it over London from the balcony.
In the double bedroom you’ll find a whole spectrum of colours, including a whole wall’s worth of fine photographs. Perform you ablutions in the pearly bathroom, before giving yourself over to the master bedroom and ensuite . Black and white, bold, brimming with personality – this room will make you feel like you’re in dreamland when you’re still awake.
Stroll beneath the sun-speckled branches of Battersea Park, or nip over the river to enjoy a horticultural tour of Chelsea Physic Garden. The Prince Albert gastropub will please the most discerning of palettes, but if you’re after a more decorated dining experience, treat yourself to the triple Michelin starred fare at Gordon Ramsay’s flagship restaurant. There’s glitz and glamour winking back from each snazzy boutique and bar along Chelsea’s King’s Road, while the still brighter lights of the West End are only a short trip away – the tube from Sloane Square to Oxford Circus takes around ten minutes.
