About this property

Historic Cottage next to a natural swimming pond and a magnificent fruit garden

The compact house was built 1906 and has been lovingly and lavishly renovated 2002 according to ecological guidelines. It combines a historical ambience with modern comfort in an unique way and is situated right next to a large, beautiful garden with fruit trees and a natural swimming pond (10x3 meters). The pool is shared with the holiday property next door (see property 8412171 "Landmark house near Munich city). Additionally, the cottage has it's own private small garden with a spacious terrace available for al-fresco dining, sunbathing or just unwinding.

ground floor:
Well-equipped kitchen-living room with terraces and access to the garden, storage room with washing machine, living room, large bathroom with toilet, shower, bathtub and sink.

First floor:
Master bedroom with double bed, bedroom or living room with 3 single beds, small WC

German and English books as well as a large selection of children's books and comics are at your disposal as well as DVDs.
Munich city center (30km) can easily be reached by car over the Autobahn (Motorway) or by a regular train service 2km from the house.
With the swimming pond and garden the house is surrounded by a lot of green where children can become true nature discoverers. Suitable for train travelers, S-bahn station 2 km away, we will gladly pick you up and provide bicycles!
The house is an ideal starting point to explore historical cities like Munich, Augsburg, Landsberg or Dachau as well as the Upper Bavarian nature. Besides the Ammersee, Wörthsee, Pilsensee and Starnbergersee are also close by and offer water sports such as sailing, stand up paddling, windsurfing etc. The area also offers many cycling and walking paths.
Our holiday home is located in a small village on the southern slope to the Ammersee. With Föhn you have a wonderful view of the lake and the Alps. Imagine waking up relaxed, taking a swim in the natural swimming pond and discussing your further planning for the day over breakfast on the terrace: should it be an excursion to the historic Landsberg, a cycling tour to the beer garden by the lake or a relaxing day in the on the cozy sunbeds next to the pool?

Perfect location for our family holiday in Bavaria
5 out of 5 : The cottage is a lovely base, fully equipped with everything we needed for our family holiday. The outdoor natural pool was a big hit with our children and the whole setting of the cottage is ideal : quiet, relaxing and convenient. The train station is a short distance from the house and it was easy for us to go directly into Munich from there. We had a hire car and places that we visited that were easy to drive to were Dachau, Garmisch-Partenkirchen ( for a brilliant day out at Zugspitze mountain) and the close by Skyline Park. The beautiful Lake Ammersee is within walking / cycling distance as are two towns (Eching and Turkenfeld) with places to shop and eat. Hans and Sabeeka were extremely kind and helpful to us during our stay. They are a lovely, friendly couple who did everything they could and more to make us welcome and ensure our holiday was as simple and relaxing as it could be. Overall, we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this cottage and it’s owners to others. Thank you Hans and Sabeeka.

Beautiful cottage, well equipped.
We were greeted after a long journey with a warm welcome and a generous welcome pack of groceries. The house is in a quiet village. The kitchen has got everything you need ( 3 coffee makers!). It is beautifully restored, with ample seating areas and comfortable beds. The pool area is a lovely place to relax and have a dip to cool off. The garden is full of fruit trees and there is a private seating area for the cottage. The only downside was mosquitoes, take repellant! We are a family of 4 with two children, 7 and 8. It was too hot to use the bikes available during the day so we explored the two local lakes and had a great week of swimming. We had a lovely week and would not change a thing. I highly recommend this beautiful property.

Lovely place to stay
A bijou little cottage full of charm and character with comfortable beds and well equipped plus a good central location all helped to make our stay memorable. Sabeeka & Hans were very welcoming & I have nothing but positive feedback for the cottage and the area. Highly recommended :-)

The pool was very disappointing.(We had paid extra for the pool). The wi-fi was not great either.the house it self was very satisfactory. We were close to the alps and the Allianz Arena . They were very entertaining. Dachau (a concentration camp)which was very historical.

Unique and outstandingly beautiful
Zankenhausen is brilliantly situated. Small, picturesque and very quiet, but close to shops in the next village and to the main road linking to Munich. We found it perfect for accessing Augsburg, the Alps, Munich and had the Ammersee on our doorstep for fabulous restaurants, walks and excursions. We stayed in the large house, not the cottage, for 1 week and were 3 independent women travelling around Germany. The house is magical, beautifully crafted with antique (but also practical) furniture. It has a lovely, rambling garden with plenty of little places to sit or eat and still catch the sun. The layout of the bedrooms and bathrooms in the house allows a lot of flexibility in terms of sleeping arrangements for larger families or groups. There is plenty of space to relax and feel at ease. Modern requirements, like heating, electrical sockets and WiFi are all very good. The kitchen is brilliantly equipped and you want for nothing. Hans and Sabeeka are 2 of the nicest people you will meet; they are not just friendly, they are immediately friends and really care about your wellbeing and and full enjoyment of your stay. We heartily recommend it, and are wondering if we can manage to come back sometime!
