About this property

Pfrundmatte apartment is situated in the middle of the village,near the Staubbach waterfall , along the street going to the Jungfrau camping. It is only a 8 minute walk to the railway station, a two minute walk to the pub and near several restaurants in the neighborhood. The ski bus stops just opposite to the building. The Winter Jungfrau pass allows free bus and trains rides in the area. The proprietor is at your disposition to give details of the area, or other tips or ideas about all the things to do during your vacation. A child cot, high chair is available. ski sticks are also available. 3D HD TV and Blue Ray 3D Home Cinema I Pod docking are available.

Lauterbrunnen in Winter:: Lauterbrunnen is a perfect base for a winter holiday. For the active holidaymaker you can enjoy activities such as skiing, snowboarding, snow-shoe trekking, sledging, para gliding, curling and skiing. However for the more sedate there are reduced price passes for non skiers so that you can enjoy the fabulous scenery or meet up for lunch. The revolving restaurant at the top of the Schiltorn should not be missed and further afield there are lovely shops and cafes in Grindelwald. It is also possible to take a boat ride on the two lakes. nWe have a pram available for small kid. for skiers we an get 10 per cent discount ski rent charges .

Lauterbrunnen in Spring / Summer:: In Spring / Summer Lauterbrunnen is an excellent base for exploring the Jungfrau region. You can take the train up to Jungfraujoch (the highest railway and restaurant in Europe) or the cable car to Schiltorn/Piz Gloria, film location of James Bond. There are hiking and cycle paths for all abilities, the Eiger trail or a gentle stroll along the Lauterbrunnen valley, via Gimmelwald and Stechelberg. Or take bikes up to Murren and cycle back down to Lauterbrunnen. Local folklore festivals, flag throwing and dancing displays take place in the summer months. Food is an important part of staying in the mountains. Excellent local produce such as cheese, hams and bread are all available locally. The lakes and Interlaken are only 8 miles away, with several beaches around the lake, as well as the swimming pool in the village there are plenty of opportunities for swimming, water sports and boat rides in the two lakes of Thun and Brienz.

•Staubbach Falls: on the edge of the village of Lauterbrunnen. The water plunges almost 300 meters from an overhanging cliff face. It was the inspiration for one of Goethe’s famous poems. You can see this very close one balcony of the apartment and at night it is illuminated . You can also walk up the Staubbach Gallery till 20.00 in summer .

Great location by Staubbach falls

We enjoyed our stay in this well-equipped apartment. Augustin was very helpful with information about the apartment and the area. We did find it rather noisy however with the church bells which ring throughout the night.

Comfy apartment in a fantastic location.

If the plan is to visit a range of locations in the Jungfrau region, the location of this apartment is superb. First, it is located right next to Staubbach falls in the spectacular valley of Lauterbrunnen - sit on the balcony and enjoy it. Next, the Lauterbrunnen station is convenient for both the Mürren- Schilthorn and the Wengen-Mannlichen/Kleine Scheidegg routes by train/cable. Lauterbrunnen is also only 20 min from Interlaken and all the connections it offers in trains or boats. Then, the apartment itself is comfortable with three bedrooms and two bathrooms, a very nice AV setup, functional and cosy kitchen-dining area and a bookshelf full of interesting reading. My family and I had a week packed with wonderful hiking and sight-seeing. When not out and about, we loved looking out on Staubbach falls from the balcony. Highly recommended!

A Wonderful Holiday!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this apartment. The location was excellent with a bus stop right outside the door - so handy with two infants in our party. The apartment is well equipped, spacious and very comfortable with ample storage area down in the basement and its own garage. Mr Parani was very helpful with any queries we had and anxious to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. Lauterbrunnen is an excellent centre with access to many ski and sled runs as well as pretty villages and good amenities - we have been many times in winter and late spring and no doubt will visit again and again.

Fantastic base for a Swiss Summer adventure

The apartment was everything we could have wanted for our stay in Switzerland. We were a family of 5, children 10 - 17yrs, visiting the area for the first time, wanting to have a fun, family holiday. The location of the property made it very easy to walk to the train station, cable car, taking you up to Murren, and do a bit of food shopping at the local Coop. The local swimming pool is a 10 minute walk, and is definitely worth a visit. We used the kitchen every night to cook and it had all we needed, as well as a kitchen table to all sit around. The boys enjoyed coming “home” in the evenings, after a busy day of hiking and activities, and watching the DVDs available in the apartment - some even in 3D! Every window was like a picture and we felt we were definitely in the heart of the valley with the sounds of cow bells and waterfalls, and the views of the mountains. Communication with Augustine and Celine was very good right from when we made our booking. We were met by Celine on arrival who was very welcoming and showed us around the property.

From the apartment you can take the bus to Lauterbrunnen station (2 mins), then train to access skiing above Wengen, or take bus to Schiltorn cablecar (5 mins) to access Murren skiing .Grindelwald can be reached from Kleine Scheidegg (wonderful views) or drive there in approx 20-30 minutes. For the adventurous skier there is the Lauberhorn run above Wengen, or the wonderful 16km long run from the top of the Schiltorn back to Lauterbrunnen, rated as one of the best runs in the world with stunning views. Excellent English-speaking ski-schools are based in Wengen and Murren. Local bus is free during ski season for all .For skiers we can get 10 per cent discount ski rent charges in Lauterbrunnen.
