FABULOUS TOWN HOUSE IN PRIME LOCATION OVERLOOKING THE SEA, SLEEPS 10

Photos and Description of this 5 bedroom holiday home in Cowes - Cliffhanger, 18 Castle Road

Lovely private house suitable for couples or larger group

Planning a short break or longer holiday then please ask about availability and rates. Couples and larger groups will find this beautiful home the perfect choice for a holiday anytime of the year. 7 day and longer stays are welcome with highly discounted rates offered for some dates.

An elegant period house with accommodation for up to 10 people arranged over ground and 4 upper floors. The house has been extensively modernised and improved and provides luxury contemporary style accommodation. The entrance/reception hall provides plenty of space for new arrivals and a perfect entertaining area. The sitting room with seating for 10 people has direct access to the rear patio. The formal dining room with beautiful period fireplace, wooden floors and dining table for 10 people is on the first floor, as is the spacious kitchen/diner with ample workspace for extensive cooking and entertaining. The 5 double bedrooms are extremely comfortable with fitted wardrobes. There are 3 fully tiled en-suite shower rooms and a luxurious family bathroom with roll top bath, separate shower and twin hand basins. The floors of the house are connected by a fabulous spiral staircase. Externally, there is a vehicle hardstand for one car and parking for additional 2 cars is available. There are security points for cycle storage. The west facing walled patio garden to the rear is fully equipped with dining table, chairs and barbecue. The third floor master bedroom has a balcony overlooking Cowes harbour and sea front. The top floor has a 'ship's ladder' leading to a roof lobby and 'crow's nest' roof terrace. The roof terrace provides spectacular views of the Solent as far as the mainland and the River Medina as far as the south downs. 18 Castle Road enjoys a quiet location and superb position overlooking the town of Cowes. It is a short walk from the high speed passenger ferry and close to the sea front, shops, restaurants and marina. An ideal base for holiday makers, yachtsmen or corporate guests.

Cliffhanger's prime position close to the seafront offers visitors the opportunity to enjoy year round activity in the harbour and Solent and watch cruise liners and other ships as they pass by Cowes. The yacht marina and famous yacht clubs, such as the Royal Yacht Squadron, are close by. Osborne House, home to Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, can be visited all year round in East Cowes. Carisbrooke Castle, where Charles I was imprisoned is located outside Newport, the capital city of the island, with its attractive streets and squares. For nature lovers, New Town Creek Nature Reserve and the surrounding coastal walks offer visitors the chance to see many different birds and insect species. Further afield, there is the monastery of Quarr Abbey; the Garlic Farm, known for its garlic remedies; Yarmouth Castle, built by Henry VII to protect the Solent against the French and the Needles Battery, built in the mid 18th century. Being situated in such a central location a car is not always necessary and if one wants to visit other parts of the island car and cycle hire are available in the town. At any time of the year Cliffhanger offers an ideal destination due to its proximity to the ferry and accessibility to the rest of the island. Guests can enjoy all year round sailing, mountain biking, golf, walking, country sports and other past times.

FABULOUS HOUSE, FABULOUS LOCATION

  • 5 out of 5
I booked this house for 8 girls for a weekend out of London. It can be difficult choosing somewhere online, but Cliffhanger did not disappoint. The house is absolutely gorgeous. I want to live there! It is finished to such a high standard and is perfect for a group. It's light and airy with wonderful outside space including the roof, where the views are simply stunning. All the rooms are very comfortable and bright with lovely big windows and beds! One room at the front has a balcony where 4 of us sat and had our morning coffee in the sun.

The large dining room and kitchen means the house is perfect for entertaining and the owner, Chris, arranged for the lovely Liana and Vanessa to cater for us on the Saturday night which was definitely a highlight! We were away for a hen weekend and this was the perfect house to have a group celebration.

The location is ideal, two minutes from the town centre and walking distance from the ferry. Cowes is a pretty town with very nice coastal walks and a quick and easy journey from London.

This house got 10 out of 10 from all of us and I have no doubt that we will be back!

PERFECT HOUSE FOR FAMILY OR SMALL GROUP BOOKING

  • 5 out of 5
We bumped into Chris T, upon our arrival which always makes a difference for both parties, as he was leaving flowers and wine, a good start.

The house is in a great location and full of surprises as it is rare to find a Georgian house that has been renovated on all floors to such a high standard , the deck terrace and its views sum it up.
This is by far the nicest place we have stayed in on the Isle of Wight.
The beach hut was a huge success especially for the children, even when the weather wasn't perfect.
Cowes is a great underestimated destination for non Brits, a strange mix of modern and very old fashioned and now a few pretty decent restaurants.
Please, just don't book for 2013 mid-July.

Cliffhanger is located on the edge of Cowes old town in this famous yachting centre on the lovely Isle of Wight. Situated above the town, it enjoys panoramic views and is only a few minutes walk from the yacht marinas, shops and restaurants of the high street and tennis courts of Northwood Park. The Isle of Wight has a multitude of attractions and offers everything you could want for the family and groups of friends, such as Robin Hill, Blackgang Chine and the Needles Pleasure Park to the historical Osborne House (home of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert) and Carisbrooke Castle (where Charles 1st was imprisoned). The beautiful coast and rural environment are all there to be discovered by foot, bike, car or yacht with easy access to coastal paths and cycle routes from the house.

The kitchen is also tiled with under-floor heating and has new kitchen units, appliances with oak worktops. The bedrooms are arranged with either king-size or super-size double beds, or two single beds, whichever is preferred. The lounge seats up to 10 people comfortably, as does the formal dining room which has the original marble surround fireplace, original wood flooring and rugs. The kitchen/diner can seat 8.
