A modern air conditioned apartment overlooking the beach at Plaka

Votsalo 1 is a ground floor apartment that has its own sea facing private terrace overlooking the beach. There is a good sized open plan living, dining and kitchen area which is air conditioned. Towards the rear of the property there is a double and twin bedded bedroom. There is also a small private garden/barbeques area to the rear of the property set under a pine tree.

Plaka beach is large pebbled, and has beautiful clear water, excellent for snorkeling.

There is a road running in front of the property but it is not busy especially at night when it only leads to the quiet mountain villages, so not a through route!

Votsalo 1 is excellently located in the picturesque village of Plaka which is opposite the famous island of Spinalonga ( A good holiday read is The Island by Victoria Hislop which brings Spinalonga to life) There is a water sports facility at the end of Plaka beach and all the usual water activities can be found in the local area.

If you are looking for typical Cretan cuisine and sightseeing, then the villages in the nearby mountains are never far away. The bird life and flowers early in the year are magnificent. The Griffin vultures that nest above Plaka can be seen from the top of the mountain if you enjoy walking.

The mountains of Crete are almost always visible and the scenery is spectacular.

If you are looking for archaeological sites then Knossos, Malia, Zakros and Lato are just some of the names to remember.

For younger holiday makers then there are 2 water parks about an hours drive away, plenty of sandy beaches, Elounda only 5 minutes away and there are plenty within half an hour drive.

Votsalo apartments are 20 meters from Plaka beach. The famous island of Plaka is directly opposite and only a 10 minute boat trip away. Plaka is a charming village with excellent restaurants and tasteful boutiques. The town of Elounda is only a 5 minute drive and Agios Nikolaos a further 15 minutes away. The mountains overlooking Plaka are home to the spectacular Griffin vultures. Heraklion airport is only an hours drive, and the famous archaeological site of Knossos is situated on the outskirts of the capital Heraklion.

  • Booking Conditions -
    Written confirmation with the applicable deposit (20% of the accommodation cost) is required to secure the booking. Confirmation of your booking together with an invoice/receipt showing the balance payable will be sent to you. Full payment is due 8 weeks prior to your arrival. Cheques or Bankers Drafts or bank transfer are to be payable to Michael Wilson. If for any reason the balance is not received by the due date, we reserve the right to cancel the booking. For bookings made less than 8 weeks prior to your arrival, the total amount is due with the booking form.

    Cancellation -
    1) By you, the Client: 8 weeks or before your arrival, the deposit will be non-refundable. Less than 8 weeks prior to your arrival, the total cost of the accommodation will be non-refundable if we, the owners, are unable to recover the income by re letting.
  • 2) By us, the Owners: Our liability is limited to making the accommodation available for the dates booked. In the event of the accommodation not being available, a full refund will be made of monies paid, plus interest at the appropriate rate for advance payments.

    Force Majeure -
    We are unable to accept responsibility for any aspect of your holiday arrangements beyond our control such as threats of war, civil commotion, riots, industrial disputes, earthquakes or natural disasters, government action or travel delays caused by any reason
    Subletting.
    The accommodation is provided for the sole use of the Clients named on the booking form. Subletting or assignment of the property is not permitted.

    Insurance -
    The Client is strongly advised to take out comprehensive travel and medical insurance for all members of the party.

    Rental Period The rental period commences at 1400hrs on the first day and ends at 1000hrs on the last day.
  • Health & Safety Whilst we make every effort to ensure that the property is as safe as possible, you must accept that the local conditions vary enormously from the UK. We cannot accept any responsibility for your health & safety while staying at the property. We will provide guidelines at the property to assist you in minimizing any risks to your safety.

    Security Crete is still a relatively safe location and does not have a high incidence of crime. However, we cannot accept responsibility for loss or damage to property or persons during the course of your booking.

    Damage caused to the property and/or its contents The Client must accept full responsibility for damage and breakages to the property and goods. All such damages and breakages will be charged for at replacement value and must be paid for prior to departure. A £200 refundable deposit is requested at the time of final payment of the accommodation.
