Excellent family outdoor holiday

Very well appointed house with everything you might need .

Loads of information and books about the surrounding area makes trip planning easy.

Great views of hills and what the weather is doing from livingroom.

Must remember to take bikes next time along with climbing gear as good access to forest/mountains.

kids loved the cartoon channel on sky .

House with a view!

A great location in a comfortable, modern house. We were three couples who enjoyed being able to cook in a kitchen with everything one needs. Because it was fall we did not use the outdoor cooking area, but it would have been wonderful--straight on view of the mountains in a quiet neighborhood. We took advantage of local walks out of busy Fort William. Highly recommend this house.

Das Haus lässt keine Wünsche offen.

Das Haus liegt in dem kleinen Ort Spean Bridge etwa 10 - 15 Autominuten östlich von Fort William. Der Ort selbst ist ein guter Ausgangspunkt für viele Attraktionen der Highlands (Drumnadrochid 1h 10 min, Aviemore 1 h 30 min, Glen Coe 30 bis 45 min, Morar 1h 10 min). Im Ort selbst gibt es ein einladendes Lokal im Bahnhofsgebäude, welches wir allerdings nicht besucht haben. Zu Fuß sind es zum Bahnhof gut 15 min. Im kleinen Spar-Markt (knapp 15 min zu Fuß) kann man das notwendigste kaufen, größere Geschäfte gibt es in Fort William.

Das Haus entspricht den Beschreibungen, bzw. unsere Erwartungen wurden noch übertroffen und auch die Anfahrt war mit der erhaltenen Karte problemlos. Auch die Schlüsselübergabe mit dem Schließfach funktionierte problemlos. Die Einrichtungen sind mehr als reichlich. So ähnlich würde man sich auch zu Hause einrichten. Im oberen Stockwerk befindet sich ein Doppelzimmer und 2 Schlafzimmer, die sich unsere 3 Kinder aufgeteilt haben und ein großes Bad mit Wanne, Dusche und WC. Das Doppelzimmer im EG und das kleinere Bad mit Dusche und WC haben wir nicht genutzt. Ein geräumiger Wohn-Ess-Bereich und eine ebenso geräumige Küche runden das Angebot ab. Das Haus bietet mit seinen geschätzten 150 m2 genug Platz für bis zu 8 Personen. Der Mietpreis ist mehr als angemessen.

Die Kinder hatten mit dem kleinen Bach im Garten und den vielen Spielsachen ihre helle Freude und für die Eltern gibt es mehr Literatur zu finden, als man in einem Monat lesen kann. WLAN und ein DVD-Player sind vorhanden, womit man sich die Arbeit in den Urlaub mitnimmt.

Alle Geräte im Haus haben tadellos funktioniert, Schwierigkeiten hatten wir mit der Zentralheizung. Das Temperaturprogramm beließen wir so wie es war mit max. 18,5 °C für den Abend, doch die Wohnung wurde munter auf 22 bis 23 °C aufgeheizt. Evtl. sollte hier jemand nachsehen.

Jedenfalls werden wir das Haus uneingeschränkt weiter empfehlen.

Welcome to Taigh A'Chaorainn ('Rowan Tree House' in Gaelic) an ideal holiday destination in the Highlands of Scotland, 10 miles from Fort William, the outdoor capital of the UK. We are close to Loch Ness, Ben Nevis and the Cairngorms. The Caledonian Canal is a stone's throw away. The house is a great base from which to go walking/hiking, birdwatching, fishing, play golf, and try some water sports. Skiing in winter.

  • All the beds, mattresses and furniture in the rooms on the 1st floor were bought in 2011. The furniture in the master bedroom on the ground floor is from 2011. All the bedrooms have large built-in wardrobes and chests of drawers. All bedlinen (sheets and duvet covers) and towels (1 bath towel and and 1 smaller one) provided. All the duvets atre anti-allergenic. Lots of teatowels in the kitchen. Parquet floor in the master bedroom, carpets in the others. Sofa-bed (for 1 person) in the living room.
