Charming 18th century Costwold stone cottage in idyllic rural location with great character and period features, stunningly refurbished. Perfect for a comfy cosy weekend retreat with family or friends, and ideal for sightseeing around the Cotswolds. Huge inglenook fireplace with wood burning stove in lovely large sitting room with exposed beams and comfy seating, tv and freeview. Stylish modern and well equipped kitchen with breakfast area and separate sunny dining room seating up to 8. In addition, there is a utility/boot room and separate wc. Upstairs 3 delightful sunny bedrooms with twin/double beds, two luxury modern bathrooms (1 ensuite) with wc, basin, bath and large shower in each. Central heating throughout. Fresh linen provided.
The cottage is surrounded by its garden, with a summer house and large pond (home to wild ducks and moorhens) and overlooks idyllic pasture fields with sheep grazing. There is an attractive BBQ area by the pond and garden furniture is provided. The garden is secluded, and fenced in. Behind the house is a large gravelled parking area for up to 3 cars.
The Old Sheephouse is situated in a secluded spot in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and offers all the attractions of the Cotswolds. Perfect for those seeking an idyllic rural retreat away from it all, with wonderful unspoilt walks on your doorstep. A peaceful 1.5 km walk will bring you into Barnsley Village with the chic Barnsley House Hotel and renowned Village Pub, with its great cuisine and famous clientèle. The Cottage is located just 7 minutes from the fashionable Roman town of Cirencester with its fantastic restaurants, shops and boutiques, Roman sights, golf courses and Cirencester Polo Club. There is a Waitrose and Tesco in Cirencester for any self-catering supplies and both deliver to the postcode. The Cotswold Leisure Centre has great gym and fitness facilities and a large modern swimming pool. Nearby the Cotswold Water Park offers a huge variety of watersports and activities.
Other towns within a 20 minute drive include Lechlade, Bibury and Tetbury, charming traditional Cotswold towns offering antiques, small boutiques, cafes, pubs, great restaurants and even trout fishing. Cheltenham Is close by with its elegant shops, racecourse and Literary Festival, and there is a dry ski slope in Gloucester just 20 miles away. Why not visit the Cotwold Wildlife Park at Slimbridge on your way back? Or for a fun day out, visit Bristol, home of Brunel’s SS Great Britain and the Clifton Suspension Bridge, with its great Science museum, zoo and botanical gardens, not to mention excellent shopping.
