Loved this villa
We travelled as 2 sets of grandparents, our respective son and daughter, and our 2 granddaughters, aged 2 and 4. Petros, the owner, met us at the airport and together with his brother, transported us in 2 cars to the villa, which was approximately half an hour from the airport. On arrival, we were greeted by his mother, who had made the most delightful lemonade from their home grown lemons. Delicious! They also left 2 bottles of the squash in the fridge for our stay. We also received quite a few eggs from their chickens!
The villa itself was beautiful; lots of highly polished wood and fantastic fittings. We had ample space and even moved the baby's cot into the library. The girls loved the grounds. There were hammocks swinging in the forest, sunbeds out under the trees facing the sea, and a great BBQ which we used one evening.
The villa was spotlessly clean, and was fully cleaned every day. Petros was more than willing to shop for us in town if we needed anything not provided by the small local shop.
The beach was clean (a haven for nesting turtles which were beginning to come ashore at the time we were there. In fact there was also a turtle santuary next to one of the tavernas which the girls loved.)
We had the choice of 3 local tavernas to eat at, all very similar, plus we were able to use the pool and poolside snackbar, on the adjoining Simpson Villa complex as it was low season.
The villa was very suitable for the children, and they loved picking the cherries which grew close to the building. The lemon trees were there too, but the lemons were out of reach so remained intact!
Water was heated by solar energy, although on unsunny days, we were able to switch over to electricity. We did find, however, that those who had last showers generally didn't get much hot water, and by morning, there was often little hot water left. The pressure in the showers was also not great, but we coped with that anyway.
Our hosts were always very welcoming, and if we needed to be shown how anything worked, were always willing to oblige.
On leaving, we were given a very welcome gift of their own olive oil, and transported back to the airport.
All in all, we had a wonderful time, and would certainly consider returning some time in the future. In fact our neightbours at home have already asked us for the details as they are considering it for later in the year.
Many thanks Petros and family for making our stay just that bit more special
