Access

Our district is situated in the province of Girona, in the northern part of Catalonia. It is easily reached by the N-II trunk road or the A-7 motorway (exits 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9), or, if you prefer, you can fly to the Girona-Costa Brava Airport or those of Barcelona or Perpignan. You can also travel by train to either Girona, Caldes de Malavella, Flaçà or Figueres and then take one of the many bus routes serving the main towns of the Baix Empordà.

Do not miss the bays and shore walks around the town of Begur. The sheer cliffs and sheltered coves are the origin of the name Costa Brava, the ‘wild’ or ‘rugged’ coast. Coves like Sa Riera, Sa Tuna and Aiguablava are some examples that we warmly recommend you visit.

The commercial activity of Platja d’Aro is one of the most consolidated attractions of this municipality, which is well-known for its long main avenue and the multitude of shops and establishments it contains. The town is also famous for its leisure facilities, open both day and night.

The municipality of Mont-ras is situated slightly inland, but a part of its territory reaches the coast. Do not miss the spectacular cove of El Crit, and also the shore path running along this part of the coastline.

Do not miss the bays that dot the coast around Palafrugell. Calella, once a small fishing village, is one of the most attractive points on the Costa Brava. The shore walk that connects this bay with Llafranc is very beautiful, skirting the coastline just a few metres from the sea.

The town of Pals has a fascinating medieval nucleus set on a hill, conserving the typical structure and layout of the period, with narrow alleyways, towers and buildings that make it a very interesting visit.

No visit to the municipality of Torroella de Montgrí–L’Estartit is complete if it does not include the Medes Islands. This is a protected maritime-terrestrial zone with great biological diversity. It is made up of two small islands and a group of small islets and reefs. The submerged area is a protected zone that contains a number of very complex ecosystems, making it an ideal spot for diving.
