Idyllically situated on the southern slopes of the Sierra Nevada Natural Park, the cosmopolitan town of Orgiva sits at the head of the Guadalfeo Valley in Andalucia. The primary commercial centre of the region, Orgiva property is close to all the facilities you could wish for. The town is created from a unique mix of Alpujarran and modern Spanish architecture, with influences from the four rural districts it both connects and services. Orgiva, Spain, has become a favourite holiday destination for visitors wishing to visit the unspoilt, beautiful Spain which the original tourists fell in love with.
There is a large population of English speakers who initially took Orgiva accommodation for a holiday and never left. The beautiful Alpujarras countryside is what enchanted most: surrounded by dark mountain peaks on all sides and carpeted in lush groves of oranges, lemons, olives and morning glory, it is little surprise so many people fall in love with this town, sitting in the centre of a rural paradise.
The town’s ‘bohemian’ atmosphere has resulted in settlers from many regions calling Orgiva home, and this is beautifully shown by the staggering variety of goods on offer in the weekly Thursday market, which simply must be visited from an Orgiva villa. Which ever form of Orgiva accommodation tickles your fancy, there should be something to suit as there is even a well established tepee suburb!
There are some beautiful sights to be seen from an Orgiva property too. Sitting in one of the charming cafes in one of the town’s two shaded squares, you can see the stunning twin spires of the Iglesia de Nuestra Senora de la Expectacion and the Andalucian white washed church of Ermita de San Sebastian.
Orgiva property is the perfect base for walking and trekking holidays too. Walking into the hills which surround the town, looking down onto the town is a lovely experience, especially in the summer sun, and well worth the trip.
Orgiva enjoys over 300 days of sunshine every year, and temperatures are such that snow is completely unheard of, with daily temperatures in summer usually reaching around 35˚C. However, the soothing mountain breezes take much of the sting out of the heat.
Monarch and Ryanair provide regular cheap flights to Granada Airport (GRX), which is under an hour from any of the accommodation in Orgiva. Transfers from the airport right to your front door will not cost more that 50 Euros, and car hire is available from the airport.
