Haleakala National Park is a great place to visit for its volcano and other natural features.
Hawaii has only two seasons, summer from May to September and winter from October to April. However, the temperatures do not vary too much with average highs of about 29 to 30 degrees centigrade in the summer and 24 to 25 degrees in the winter. June and July are generally the driest months of the year. Visitors should pack warmer clothing if they intend to head up in to the mountains on the Big Island.
Kapalua Airport (JHM) is just 10 minute’s drive from Napili and has flights to and from Honolulu (HNL) and Molokai (MKK). Ace, Alamo, AutoEurope, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Europcar and thrifty are some of the car rental firms with depots at the airport. Visitors from outside Hawaii can fly to Honolulu and get a connecting flight to Kapalua. Flights arrive in Honolulu from Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW), Los Angeles (LAX), Seattle-Tacoma (SEA), Sydney (SYD) and Tokyo-Narita (NRT) amongst others. Visitors from Europe can fly to Los Angeles and get a connecting flight to Kahului Airport (OGG), which is about an hour from Napili. Flights from Amsterdam (AMS), Frankfurt (FRA), London-Heathrow (LHW), and Paris=Charles de Gaulle (CDG) fly direct to Los Angeles. Eight car rental firms are located in a building on the walkway past the end of the baggage claim area at Kahului Airport.
