Anyone looking for a great year round holiday destination in the United States may like to try Mountain Village. There are many interesting things to do and see in this area, which is located in the state of Colorado. Visitors to Mountain Village will find so much to do any time of the year including great skiing in the winter. As well as downhill skiing and snowboarding, holidaymakers can try ice skating, snowshoeing and Nordic skiing. In the warmer months visitors can enjoy the fantastic scenery by hiking and cycling. For example there are some fascinating museums such as Telluride Historical Museum and San Miguel County Historical Museum. A little further away is Silverton where tourists can see the Fred Wolfe Memorial Carriage House, the Mayflower Mill and Old Hundred Mine.
The warmest month of the year is July with an average high temperature of 77 degrees Fahrenheit, while the coldest month of the year is January with an average high temperature of 35 degrees Fahrenheit. The annual average precipitation in this area is only about 25 inches. This is fairly evenly distributed throughout the year with the peak in March at an average of 2.5 inches. July is the driest month with an average of 1.2 inches of rainfall. The higher ground sees substantial snowfall in the winter months.
Holidaymakers can fly to Denver International Airport (DEN), which has flights from other U.S cities as well as international airports. These include Frankfurt (FRA), London-Heathrow (LHW), Miami (MIA), New York (JFK) and Toronto-Pearson (YYZ) amongst others. From Denver passengers can then get a connecting flight to Telluride Regional (TEX), which is just 20 minute’s drive from Mountain Village. Hertz and National are car rental firms located at the airport and there are also taxis, shuttles and buses available.
