Montego Bay (MoBay) is an absolute delight. Located on the North Coast of Jamaica, Montego Bay is Jamaica’s second city, and all that you dream of when you think of a Jamaican holiday; blissfully laid back, rum punch on glorious white sand beaches and the steady beat of Bob Marley filling the warm air. Nothing is ever rushed here, and your mind will find itself drifting back to the timeless party atmosphere of Montego Bay long after you have left for home.
The sensational beaches of Montego Bay are a huge attraction to a beach house or rented apartment in Montego Bay, Jamaica. There is no need to move an inch during your stay, stretched out on the powder soft sand with the Caribbean sun on your face and a chilled rum cocktail close to hand. The warm, safe waters that lap the beach are perfect for swimming and snorkelling from the beach, and with 10 miles of coral reefs just off shore, the snorkelling is absolutely remarkable. There are also a good range of water sport centres offering scuba diving, wind surfing and water skiing.
Despite the amazingly calming atmosphere that hangs in the air around rented apartments in Montego Bay, there is always something to do. There are four golf courses to play from a rental apartment in Montego Bay, and the Rose Hall Plantation is an excellent place to explore the long and often bleak history of Jamaica. Be warned though, Rose Hall is still said to be haunted by its original owner! Martha Brae River and Lethe’s Great River are both wonderful places to raft gently along (there are no rapids here, rafting in Montego Bay is a purely relaxing activity), allowing you to see the best of rural Jamaica.
The city itself is always lively. The whole place sways to the sound of reggae year round, especially July, when the Sumfest Festival rolls into town for three full days. The Montego Bay nightlife is always fantastically vibrant, with many clubs, cocktail bars and beach bars wafting reggae through the warm evening air.
A wonderful day trip from a Montego Bay villa is just a short drive away in Ocho Rios. The village is surrounded by beautiful waterfalls which can be climbed, and the gurgling pools of chilled water at the bottom make wonderfully refreshing swimming holes.
The climate of Montego Bay is astonishingly constant, with monthly temperatures averaging 30˚C in the coldest month and 32˚C in the warmest! Rain is only likely to appear during May and October, and even then it disappears as quickly as it appeared.
The Sir Donald Sangster Airport (MBJ), otherwise known as Montego Bay Airport is a lifeline for anyone wishing to reach Montego Bay accommodation from the UK. There are an amazing range of cheap flights to Montego Bay Airport available, with cheap flights to Montego Bay being provided by ThomsonFly, Monarch Airlines and First Choice Airways. There are no shortage of departure points for cheap flights to Montego Bay either, leaving from London, Manchester (MAN) Belfast (BFS) and Birmingham (BHX).
