Puerta de Mazarron is on the south east coast of Spain, close to the cities of Cartagena and Murcia. The area has some of the best beaches in Spain and is much less developed than the Costas. Puerta de Mazarron offers excellent self catering accommodation, ideal for family seaside holidays. The old town of Mazarron has banks, supermarkets and a produce market. On the coast is Puerto de Mazarron which has many natural harbours and sandy coves with safe bathing. As much of the area is a National Park, development has been curtailed and Puerto de Mazarron has remained largely unspoilt.
All activities revolve around the beach and the sunshine here! With sea temperatures as warm as bath water in the summer, sailing, windsurfing and jet skiing are popular, along with swimming and sunbathing.

During the summer, a host of activities are organized by the Town Hall including street parties, live music events, sailing and mountain walking activities.
Enjoy the freshly caught local seafood here. Mazarron sea bass is baked with peppers, potatoes, tomatoes and dressed with pine nuts. Lobster and bonito fish are also local delicacies to be savoured.
The nearby La Torre Golf Course is well known for its Jack Nicklaus golf course set on a lake. There is also a driving range and practice putting green.
Cartagena is an historical Spanish city with beautiful architecture. Set around the harbour it has a number of defensive forts. Most of its archeological treasures date back to Roman times. There are remains of a Roman colonnade, amphitheatre, House of Fortune and the Decumanus. Newer buildings include the Grand Hotel, City Hall and the Casino which are all magnificent landmarks.
The city of Murcia is the capital city of the region and has a wealth of architectural treasures dating back over 800 years. The Cathedral de Santa Maria has magnificent Baroque architecture.
The Museum Ramon Gaya is also worth visiting to see the work of this local artist, influenced by Vasquez and Rembrandt.
La Manga - The area known as Mar Menor is a natural lagoon cut off by a spit of land 13 miles long. This extraordinary natural feature has created a swimming lagoon. There is a lighthouse on the end of the strip called Cabo de Palos.
Visitors are drawn to the area all year round for the sunshine. Winters are relatively mild with average lows of 6C and highs of 16C (44-61F). Temperatures soon rise above 20C to highs of 29C(69-85F) during August. The low rainfall is mainly in the winter months.
