There are many things to do in Los Altos, and the beaches at Torrevieja are a key attraction for many. There are several to choose from, including Playa los Locos, Playa del Cura and Playa Naufragos – all of which are Blue Flag beaches that meet stringent quality standards for their clean sandy stretches and warm waters. A good range of water sports are available from all of these beaches, including jet skiing, windsurfing and scuba diving.
Torrevieja is a great destination for golfers, and plays host to three Championship golf courses. If golf is not your thing you get can out and about into the surrounding countryside for a hike or by renting a bicycle, with some interesting Roman ruins to be seen. Families may prefer a trip to the Water Park, safari park or theme park.
Although it gets busy with tourists, Torrevieja is still a typical Spanish town, and has an excellent street market every Friday morning, as well as some great shops, bars and restaurants. Food prices are low and quality is high, so you can enjoy a meal and a few drinks in the lively city centre, before making your way back to your rental apartment in the quieter area of Los Altos.

Torrevieja is surrounded by two saltwater lagoons, known as the ‘Salterns of Torrevieja’, which make an interesting day trip. You can also head further out of town and examine other areas of the Costa Blanca, discovering a mix of sleepy towns and busy tourist hotspot as you go.

Even the winter’s average out at a pleasant 12C, meaning any time of the year is ideal for a hike in the hills or a walk around town.
