When flying into the New York City area, international travellers have two options. The first is John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK) and the second is LaGuardia Airport (LGA). Both service many carriers and offer convenient flights. Some visitors like to have a car for use during their stay, but this isn’t necessary. Because the public transportation system – including the Staten Island ferry – is so reliable, many visitors find that it’s not necessary to have a car. Of course, if you plan on taking daytrips to spots outside of New York City then you will need a car.
