Kapaa is a small but pretty town on the Hawaiian island of Kauai. It has a good shopping centre, chic boutiques and local restaurants on an area that once raised pineapples and sugar cane during the 19th and 20th centuries.
Kapaa holiday homes make a great base for enjoying this tropical island paradise. The beautiful beach is popular for surfing and is a great place to watch the sunrise. Sunbathing, walking and swimming can all be enjoyed. Locals congregate at the Kapaa Beach Park and kite surfers can be seen riding the surf. It is also a great place for snorkeling when the currents are not too strong. Take long walks or go jogging along the paved trail at Waipouli Beach, try shopping for local merchandise in the Kauai Village Shopping Centre or visit the local cinema complex in town. Mountain biking and horse riding are both great ways to see the beautiful countryside of Kauai and golfers will find first class golf courses at Wailua Golf Course and the Prince and Makai Golf Courses in Princeville.
Kapaa holiday apartments are overlooked by the “Sleeping Giant” Mountain known as Nounou. The first place to visit for most visitors is the Coconut Marketplace, an outdoor bazaar with a wide choice of merchandise beneath plantation-style structures. Places to visit should include the Kauai Children’s Discovery Museum which offers fun for children of all ages. The Kauai Center of Hawaiian Arts and Culture gives an interesting insight into the cultural history of Hawaii. Known as the Garden Isle, Kapaa is close to the larger town of Lihue and the shopping district at Wailua Beach. Some of the most spectacular natural attractions to visit are the Makalehi Mountain and Opaekaa Falls just a couple of miles outside Kapaa.
Kapaa holiday homes experience warm sunny days almost all year round. In summer the island has temperatures in the high 70s and in winter it drops to the mid 60s on average. The area has high humidity but it remains beautifully warm for most of the year.
The main international airport serving Hawaii is Honolulu International (HNL) Airport which is on Big Island, Hawaii. From there, connecting flights to Lihue Domestic (LIH) Airport complete the journey to Kapaa holiday rental homes. Most major American airlines have regular flights to Honolulu along with Air Canada, Qantas and Japan Airlines making it very easy to reach these remote Pacific Islands. Alternatively, some visitors arrive by cruise ship from San Francisco or Seattle.
