The weather is hottest in June, July and August with average air temperatures of about 90 degrees Fahrenheit. The coldest time of the year is January when the average air temperature is a respectable 56 degrees Fahrenheit. Officially the hurricane season extends from June to November, but years may pass without this area being impacted by hurricanes. Rainfall is spread fairly evenly throughout the year with the wettest months usually July to September with 6 to 6.5 inches per month.
Myrtle Beach International Airport has flights to and from several U.S cities including Atlanta, Charlotte, Detroit, Newark, New York-LaGuardia, Philadelphia and Washington-Reagan as well as other seasonal services. Visitors flying from other countries can get direct flights to Charlotte and get a connecting flight to Myrtle Beach. Charlotte has flights to and from major cities outside the U.S such as London, Munich, Paris and Toronto. Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National and Thrifty are the car rental firms operating at Charlotte International Airport. The drive to Myrtle Beach takes approximately three and three quarter hours.
