The city of Atlanta is well known for its large zoo in Grant Park, the Georgia Aquarium and the huge cyclorama painting of Atlanta history which has a circumference of 358 feet! There is also a Civil War Museum for history buffs and the unique “World of Coca-Cola” attraction with memorabilia and the history of this world-famous drink. Stone Mountain is one of Georgia’s main attractions. Carved onto the massive quartz monolith is the largest bas-relief sculpture in the world showing Jefferson Davis, Robert E. Lee and Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson sitting astride their favorite horses. Savannah is a beautiful old city with a fascinating history. There is a trio of forts around the area: Fort Jackson, Fort McAllister and Fort Pulaski, which are worth visiting
The state of Georgia has hot sunny summers and fairly mild winters. Temperatures average 31°C (88°F) in July and 11°C (52°F) in January with the odd cold snap when frost may be experienced. In the higher mountain altitudes, temperatures are considerably cooler with some snowfall in the depths of winter. The state has rain showers year-round and the driest months are September and October.
