Compass Bay is a community of vacation homes that provides you with every comfort of home for your stay in Florida. In addition to the nicely furnished town homes, there are also community features that make Compass Bay a great choice, including a pool and several playgrounds. Compass Bay is located within a few km of many attractions including Disney World.
While the most popular thing to do whilst on holiday to Compass Bay is to visit some of the many nearby amusement parks, there is plenty else to do as well. There are fabulous sandy beaches within a 90 minute drive of Compass Bay. Because it is fairly mild all year, you can visit the beach no matter when you plan to visit. Visit Port Canaveral where you can go on a whale watching expedition to see whales living as they were meant to live.
Blue Spring State Park includes more than 2600 acres and is a wonderful spot for hiking, taking a picnic or trying to spot a manatee. You can also go snorkelling and water tubing in the park.
There are so many hugely popular attractions near Compass Bay that it would not be possible to list them all or to visit them all during one holiday. Some, such as Disney World and Universal Studios, draw visitors from all over the world. Others are slightly less well-known, but are still wonderful places to visit during your holiday. At Disney World, consider a visit to the Richard Petty Driving Experience. You will be able to learn to drive a real race car at speeds of up to 217 km per hour. Gatorland will provide a close up – but not too close – look at alligators. Set on 110 acres, visitors can see reptile shows, learn about alligators and crocodiles and get hands-on in the petting zoo. There is plenty of fine dining and shopping opportunities as well as a vibrant nightlife.
Summers near Compass Bay can be described using two words: hot and humid. The average high temperature from June through August is a hot 33 degrees. When you factor in the humidity, it can feel much warmer and some find the summer heat to be quite uncomfortable. For this reason, some choose to visit during another part of the year rather than in the midst of the summer heat. The average high temperature during the spring is a slightly more bearable 30 degrees. Winter highs top out at about 22 degrees. Some prefer to visit in the winter to take advantage of slightly shorter lines at attractions as well as the more comfortable weather.
Since Compass Bay is located in Kissimmee, the closest airport is Orlando International (MCO). Whilst this airport is very well-serviced, some choose to fly into a different airport. This might be to catch a better fare, or for convenience of schedule. Of course, which airport is best will depend on many factors, so be sure to plan early as there is no off-season in this area.
