Koh Tao lies on the eastern side of Thailand, and therefore experiences monsoon season from September to December. Vacations during this time are not recommended as the rain is nearly constant and flooding can become somewhat dangerous. During the dry and cool season – in the earliest part of the calendar year – temperatures in Thailand range from 19-31°C.
The simplest way to arrive in Koh Tao is to fly into Samui Airport (USM) on the island of Koh Samui. From here, a series of ferries bring visitors to Koh Tao. On the island itself, motorbikes are available for rent, and water taxis will take travellers to beaches that are harder to reach.
