Throughoutthe year Dalarna offers so many interesting places for holidaymakers to visit including museums and galleries such as Dalarnas Museum in Falun. Fulufjället National Park is an area of outstanding beauty and features Njupskär, Sweden ´s largest waterfall at 112 metres high. A great place for the family to visit is the Grönklitt Bear Park, where visitors can see bears, wolves, lynx and wolverines. The scenic towns of Rättvik, Leksand and Mora are located around the beautiful Lake Siljan, on which longboats can often be seen in the summer.
The winter days in this part of Sweden are short and cold with the average high temperature in January as low as -1C, with only six hours of daylight. However, the summer can be as warm as Southern England, with the average high in July 22C and as much as 19 hours of daylight. Around April and October the temperatures can be quite fresh at an average of 9-10C. Most rain falls during summer and early autumn and much of the winter precipitation falls as snow.
Stockholm-Arlanda Airport (ARN) is 320 kilometres from Dalarna and has flights to and from many cities around the world including Amsterdam, Beijing, Berlin, Brussels, Lisbon, London, Madrid, Moscow, New York, Paris, Vienna and Zurich amongst others. Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz and Sixt car rental offices are located at the airport and taxis are available outside the terminal buildings.
